Security officer & pregnant
Security officer & pregnant
Okay this is a long shot considering how specific it is, but I am super stressed because I am 9 weeks pregnant right now and I work as a security officer. Where I work varies every week and can range from high rises to outdoor sites. I have to deal with the sometimes mentally ill homeless population and work in more dangerous areas. Anyways, does anyone have any experience with this kind of situation? Am I allowed to say I can't work in dangerous areas anymore? I am open to hearing from police officers as well. It's the closest and more common job I can think of. I am also hoping to hear some advice about uniforms or anything relating to this topic.

I myself am a security officer but I work on a college campus. Being my job got really hectic and I was always outside and moving around during my first trimester I told my doctor. They put me on profile to where I couldn't do stressful task to harm my baby. Now at 38 weeks I haven't had any problem. Let your doctor know of your concern and they should write you note to give your job so your not doing to much so early on like siting at a desk or inside a building. Good luck!

Thank you all for your responses! Did they provide you with security maternity uniforms? Does anyone ever make comments about you being pregnant and working as a security officer? I'm sort of worried about that.

I was a prison guard and light duty was few and far between so it was definitely not a good situation. They also didn't provide maternity uniforms so you had to keep getting the next size and then try to make it fit as best as possible. I left right before finding out I was pregnant but I know others struggled. Best you can do is talk to them.
