Are mom friends a must when you are a new mom? What about a seasoned mom? The short answer is yes, you do need mom friends.

Is she going in for NSTs?
Shay·
@erika They only give her Ultrasounds.
I forgot to add,for the last couple weeks she's had high blood pressure.

Omg I couldn't imagine being pregnant for that long
Shay·
@Tiffany,I couldn't either. My midwife wouldn't let me go past 41, thank heavens for that. My placenta was hardening.

I went to 42 weeks and they induced me right at 42 weeks. I think she should ask to be induced at 42. I think the placenta can start deteriorating at that point. I know my
Doc said I couldn’t go any longer. I was doing a vbac though, but i still would want to be induced at 42 weeks.

Look, I’m all for NOT inducing unless medically necessary but the statistics are that past 41/42 weeks, depending on the study used, the risks of meconium and quite a few other complications are greatly increased. So personally I wouldn’t push it past 42 weeks unless everything was 100% okay. High blood pressure sounds like an indication that things may be wearing down in her body. I think she should get a second opinion!
And this is coming from someone who had a medical induction at 37.5 and it was truly the worst experience of my life and I would have done anything to not have had to be induced.
Shay·
@rowdy, she's been asking since 41, I told her to try my hospital since they don't like patients going that far (41 is their safe spot)
My placenta started to deteriorate at 41 maybe before.

With my last I was two days shy of 42 weeks and im so happy I didn't go over ..my placenta was already deteriorating. .. if I were your friend I'd deff ask to be induced asap
Shay·
@bmr, the blood pressure thing got me. I'm all for waiting it out too but they aren't doing shat to check really. Just an ultrasound, no NSTs.
She said that it hit its highest last appointment and they still wouldn't schedule or keep the appointment.
I'm hoping my hospital pulls through for her.
Shay·
@school, I cried when they showed me where my placenta deteriorated. I felt horrible for pushing past 41w (scheduled at 41w 4d).

I was supposed to be induced at 42 weeks but ended up at 41+1 because fluid was too low. I hope they are monitoring twice a week for that. As PP said, they need the non-stress test twice weekly as it can get sketchy. I feel for your friend. 41 weeks pregnant is miserable. Can’t imagine past 42.

The high blood pressure is definitely concerning. I would definitely encourage her to get another opinion or demand an induction. I wouldn’t want something to happen because she waited until they wanted to do it and the baby needed to be out sooner. I’m sure they don’t want to work on the holiday but it’s their job.
Shay·
@new, I'm actually starting to get worried for her. She'll post about her appointments and what they do. So far I haven't read a word about an nst ever being done. Just one ultrasound a week.
I was kept at the hospital for high blood pressure once, it's been a couple weeks for her and they just send her on her way.
Shay·
@atw, I've been trying to persuade her into heading to where I went. They keep you for anything that's concerning and I'm almost certain they'd induce her asap.

My due date was moved a few times with this last pregnancy, and with the last date I was given, I ended up being 42 weeks and 2 days. They gave me biophysical profiles and non stress tests to make sure I was OK going over that far. Unless something on those tests are worrisome, it's OK to go over.

Personally, I would have told them hell no when they tried to push it past 42 weeks. I would be really uncomfortable with that.
If I were her, I'd go back and tell them to move it up.

I went to just over 42 weeks and the day before my induction my waters broke I tried everything possible to get it rolling only thing they would do was a sweep and not even that did anything I wasn’t effaced ect and four days after my first sweep I was in labour
deleted-user·
Wow! My dr doesn't let you go past 40weeks.. I've never carried full term, both my babies were born at 36weeks! I can't imagine being pregnant foe 43 weeks!! I would seriously talk to my dr and ask for an induction!!
Shay·
I haven't heard from her yet, but I started to urge her more due to her blood pressure.
deleted-user·
You know, if I were her I would go into labor and delivery and tell them I feel decreased fetal movement. Chances are if the hospital finds out how far she is and if her blood pressure is high, the resident or OB on call will make the decision to start her induction. I can't believe they are letting her go that long.
Shay·
@raven would they? Lol I would've never thought of that. Hopefully she goes natural. As of now she's still very pregnant.
Shay·
Update, she's leaking fluid so I'm having her go in.
