Membrane sweep Dr wants to do a membrane sweep next week when I’m at the end of my 38th week.

I've been 1cm dilated with baby's head engaged for weeks, had 2 sweeps so far, the first was uncomfortable and I had mild cramps after and some braxton hicks, the second was really painful and I had strong cramps and lost my mucus plug and quite a bit of blood, it started off labour before my body was ready, was having regular contractions every 2-5 minutes for over 12 hours, and then it just stopped. That was several days ago, and my due date was yesterday. Currently no sign of baby :/

It worked an hour after i had mine! I was 4 cm dilated with my first when I went to L&D cause I was having contractions. I got the sweep done, nurse told me to walk around for an hour, and I came back she checked me I was 5 cm and I got admitted.

I had a sweep done this past week on Tuesday. My ob warned me it would hurt. However I felt little to no pain. My ob was very surprised by my reaction. I had slight cramping. Nothing timbale and a little bit of spotting. My ob said there’s a 1 in 5 chance of it working and it would be with in 48 hours. Well nothing happened. However yesterday morning I lost my mucus plug and have had some very light spotting. No contractions though. So we will see what happens. I have another appointment Tuesday, which I can only guess I will get another sweep if nothing happens by then! Good luck girl!

I started my contraction a couple of days later. It was so painful when my doctor did it though. It did work for me.

I had it with my second baby. I was almost 41 weeks, i had some spotting after and braxton hicks got a little more intense, had the baby the following day.

I had my baby same day after the membrane sweep that was done on 39+2 days. After i got it the cramps and spotting started and eventually at night i had my baby girl. I didn’t ask for it ! My oby told me i will examine you and it was so painful examination I remember. This time i told my doctor I don’t want to be examined vaginally before my due date unless it is necessarily. My husband will travel and come back just few days before my due date. I will be alone with no family around and I expect to drive my self to hospital, which is 30 minuets away from home

I had one with dd. It didn't work, but I had cramping and spotting for about 48 hours.

I more mean like, is there cramping, spotting etc afterwards? Not necessarily expecting to go into labor right after. I heard most women don’t.

I had one with my first baby at 40+3. It was extremely uncomfortable and my midwife ended up not finishing the sweep. I had asked her to do it and she wasn't keen on hurting me unnecessarily. I think that was in the morning of the 4th of February and I was normal all day. No symptoms or anything unusual. That night around midnight I woke up with contractions and it was the real deal. We had our baby girl the night evening. So I'm not sure if it was the sweep or just being overdue and she was ready?

It did absolutely nothing for me ? bit you can try .
