I read a lot about women saying that being induced is more painful, takes longer to progress, and has a higher chance of needing a C section.

When I got induced I was in labor for 24 hrs. The pitocin was either to high and contractions were constant with little to no change in dilation or to low and no contractions.
I hear going into labor when your body is ready is a lot easier to handle when it comes to pain and their are less complications and less chance of a c section.

I see ok, that explains a lot. I could totally see why they would prefer not to choose that route then.

I was happy with being induced. Everything went great

Agree with previous replies that it can lead to unscheduled caesarean births when mothers uterus or baby do not agree with the intensity of the artificially triggered stronger contractions.
In general if induction happens soon after full term 36-37 weeks, the uterus and cervix have to work very hard because they weren't ready to birth the baby.
It can be controversial as well if doctors schedule inductions to control their own work schedules (avoiding middle of night and weekend deliveries).

I got induced with my first since I was losing amniotic fluid and my placenta was aging. But I believe it's more painful than giving birth on your own since it artificially brings on labour. But in my own experience I would say my labour went pretty fast. It was about 5 hrs at the most. I shudder at the thought if I had to get induced again though...

Statitistics will show you that being induced can lead to issues. The thing is due dates arebnt exact so you may think baby is ready when they are not. Leading to more unnecesary interventions then possibly csections. Sometimes inductions are needed and plenty go just fine. I would say dont "selfishly" choose to be induced because of your comfort. Let baby arrive when they are ready, its just easier. My 1st we were induced and labor was so awfully painful with no pain meds i wanted to kill everyone, it was so intense i became so dehydrated my vag swelled up ridiculously i couldnt even walk for days and my baby was just unpleasant angry unhappy and i think being induced was part of it. My.other 2 were spontaneous labors and they were a million times easier. So im one to say induction is not the way to go...for me..

My induction with my son went absolutely fine. At 11 days overdue his ultrasound showed him close to 10lbs. Since we didn’t want him getting any bigger and being I was so late we opted to induce.
I started meds at 9am, they broke my water around 1pm, that’s when my contractions really started and I got epidural.
Around 4:30pm I was ready to push and he was born a little after 5pm.
Although I had some tearing, the labor and delivery part wasn’t bad at all. While I would prefer to go naturally with baby girl, honestly just more for the “experience” I wouldn’t object to being induced again.

I did need cervidil but I was estatic to not need pitocin. Pitocin makes your uterus contract in an unnatural way and can put the baby in distress which leads to needing an epidural which can slow down labor and the baby's heartrate which the leads to a c-section. Just watch "Pregnant in America", that will explain it better. This is not every womans experience but it is one reason why the c-section rate is so high here.

Out of 5 babies I was "induced" with pitocin three times (basically hurried for hospital convenience-I went In dilated slightly w bh no patterned contractions and they were gung go to keep me) and the babies I had pitocin and or epidural (I had two epidurals out of the 5) w were born in sever distress and sick in nicu. The ones I received no induction meds for this didn't happen. so in my case there is a correlation. My labors w induction were incredible more painful, my blood pressure dropped dangerously low and I had to be brought back once. The pain without induction was no more than period cramps until baby crowned. I've heard that inductions performed after the due date tend to go more smoothly. Of Course when there is a legit sound medical ( health) reason that it's beneficial to induce versus staying pregnant I'm all for it

Induction is more painful, takes longer, increases risk of c-section, and puts you on the dr's schedule instead of the baby's and yours. I was induced with my first abd it was horrible.

Well, that’s scary! Thankfully they won’t really induce me since I’m doin a Vbac but this explains a lot! Let’s hope babies come on their own this time around!

I needed pitocin because my water broke and I was progressing really slow on my own. After 24-36 hours if your water breaks and you lose all your fluid, the risk of infection starts going up. I wanted to move labor along while I still had some energy and sanity to cope with it and it ended up just fine for me. I even did it without an epidural!

I was 41 weeks and 3 days starting to develop preeclampsia. I guess my body was taking the end pretty rough. I wanted to go into labor naturally but it just didn't happen fast enough. I was getting worse so I needed to be induced for my own safety. The day they induced me I was actually having natural contractions that I could not feel. They hooked me up to a monitor that showed them. They broke my water and I started feeling strong contractions but they were not progressing fast enough. The pitocin in my case really helped move things along. I was able to have a successful vaginal birth. Baby girl had a great heart rate the whole time. The nurse showed me a screen with 6 other baby's heart rates that she was seeing. All of them were low except my daughters. Not sure if they were being induced as well. I also had an epidural.
I think my situation was ideal for being induced. I would not want to be induced unless I had to be because of the high complication rate.

I went 10 days past last time and induced was the last thing I wanted. I wanted to avoid the cascade of interventions that can follow that others have said. But I also didn’t want pitocin and wanted the body’s natural oxytocin. It really helps with immediate bonding and breastfeeding after birth.

With my first, I was terrified of going into labor. She ended up being 9 days late and I was induced. I started pitocin at 8 am and delivered her at 7:51 pm that same day.
Pitocin made my contracts strong and too frequent, they had to lower my levels. Then I dilated so fast. I wouldn't mind needing to do it again. Holding that little baby at the end makes everything worth it? You'll do great. I expect this baby to be late too.
