Feeding help. please help

Feeding help. please help

I had my daughter on October 24th and we had bought the nuk bottles to start out with. They were the bottles with the special nipple ever supposed to mimic an actual breast. Well she was taking 45 minutes to over an hour just to eat 2 ounces and then we move to 3 oz it was taking her even longer up to an hour and a half to eat. So I decided to try a regular cheap bottle from Walmart and she seem to have taken to it quite well. However now her feedings only last anywhere between 10 and 15 minutes and I'm worried that that's not a long enough feeding time her doctor said it should take anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes for her to eat. She seems much happier with the regular bottle then she did with the nuk bottles she was getting really frustrated with the neck bottles almost like she wasn't getting milk out of the nipple. Since we switch bottles she doesn't have any extra gas she burps well and always seems content but I'm just worried because her doctor said it should take her 20 to 40 minutes to eat and it only takes about 15

Can your doc write a prescription for this formula so insurance covers it?

I never did pace feeding with dd. I just let her eat. She never went more than 6 oz at a feeding and she didn't start that until 11 months

Yep. Just the 3 oz right now. I know that if you pay Ttention to baby that they'll tell you if your doing something they don't like. Just my Dr made me feel less secure about what I was doing with her feedings

Hmm sounds like you're doing it right. Maybe add in an extra burp? It won't hurt her though. 15 minutes for 3oz right? That sounds normal to me.

I will also add that the bottles I bought of the cheap brand are the same flow as the nuk bottles but I think because the brands are different is the reason why the milk comes out a tiny bit faster than the nuk bottles.

@pp Ive been doing pace feeding I believe. I make sure she's upright and that the nipple isn't completely filled with milk. And I also burp twice during our feeding like the pediatrician recommended and everything. It's almost like she just likes to eat fast or something . I guess I just wanna make sure I'm not hurting her which I know sounds silly but my son is 3 so I don't remember any of this

Look up pace feeding. It should take about 5 minutes per oz.

I should probably add that if she eats too fast then she's at risk for over feeding. If she eats too slow, like you mentioned, she'll get frustrated.

I used Philips vent air bottles. For the first 10 months i only used the slow nipple. Mostly because i was bf but once i weaned her i went to a medium nipple.

I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!

😭 oy what a first night back...Haley didn't eat well at all last night (3 small feedings, about 5/10mins when I know she can nurse for longer and has) I was getting frustrated with myself cause it should be so natural, just put her on and she eats but it hurts so dang much I have to put nipple cream on before and after a feeding....she's has lost 7% of her birth weight (7lbs instead of 7lbs 9oz) it's like she'd nurse for about 10mins and then about 30mins later she'd want to eat again which frustrates me cause she just ate and then we struggle to latch again til she finally does and then she does it again feeds for a couple of minutes and then gets hungry again...getting horrible flashbacks to when I couldn't nurse my first and I feel like I just can't do it... Update: the morning has been better and after talking it over with my hubby we decided on this plan. Plan a is to nurse as much as I can and during the day she does well but plan b is if we have another night of struggling to eat then we'll bottle at night
