Boobs

My boobs are killing me. We ended up formula feeding since that's what they switched to in the NICU from donor milk. But now my milk has come in and my breasts hurt so bad!! They're solid I can't even hand express on one of them.

I’ve definitely seen mamas do a mix of both BM and formula. Might be nice that way to wean your boobs off slowly rather than abruptly.

For what it's worth, BF never worked out for me for my son but I did pump for a couple weeks and gave him both bm and formula and he didn't seem to have an issue. Not trying to convince you either way, just throwing info put there in case you really wanted to try breast milk still. I found ice packs helped when mine were engorged. Good luck!

Thank you guys. I wanted to do breast milk but she's already on formula and she's taking well to it I wouldn't wanna upset her tummy by switching.

Oh man those first couple weeks of enforcement are so painful! Try a hand expressing in a hot shower or sticking your boob in a bowl of hot water or covering with a hot wet towel before hand expressing. I promise the engorgement doesn’t last forever. ?

Also, look up the “Engorgement Help: Reverse Pressure Softening” article on the Kellymom website to help Baby latch and get some milk out.

And that’s IF nursing is what you want - no judgment here. If you’ve committed to formula, then put cabbage leaves in your bra and only hand express enough to relieve pressure/don’t pump any out and don’t fully empty the breast. That way you’ll send the signal that you want to stop/don’t need as much milk.

I’m sorry! I hate that engorged feeling. My are killing too and I’m not sure why. Her latch looks pretty good but my nipples are soooooo sore
