A post got me thinking... potty help

My son turned 3 in August. We've been potty training for a couple months. We use pull ups at night and he wears real underwear during the day. He does pretty good. However he still has accidents both pee and poop. But usually one accident every couple days. Are there any suggestions to speed up or help him learn? Or any suggestions to just make what I'm doing more productive? I want him completely trained by the time he's 4... When would be a good time to toss the pullups? I expect he'll have accidents for a while but how can I minimize the amount of accidents?

Being trained at night is to do with a certain level of hormone. If they're not ready you're wasting your time. It's normal to take up to 6 years old for a child to night train. My son was completely trained by age 2 1/2 but used pull ups until was 4 when he decided he didn't want them and never wet the bed (except when sick) again.

Maybe try a bed wetting alarm for at night.

I would make mine clean up their accidents (with help of course), they hated doing that so it wasn't long until accidents stopped. The biggest thing I think is to encourage them and not push them. Regression is totally normal. I never used pull-ups. I got a plastic liner for their beds and stopped drinks at a certain time (typically about two hours before bed). My boys only had a couple accidents at night and that was it. My daughter took about a week to be totally night trained.
