I thought he was showing signs hes ready because i can get him to sit down on the toilet sometimes but hes reluctant when it comes to me trying to put him on it every 2 hours. And he hates not having pants on lol so i may try actual undies for a couple days and see if he doesnt realize its icky to go in his pants

I just told my daughter she couldn't start school in a diaper. She was off the diaper completely 3 months later. At 3 /12

The first time my son went on the potty was pretty traumatic. He cried. I busy hugged him. When he finally peed, it was like a light went on and he realized it wasn't scary. We didn't have a issue after that.

Is he showing signs of readiness ?? You can make potty time a game . High fives, clapping even little star stickers. My boys where potty trained early but they showed a lot of signs and I introduced them to the toilet early . So they had the sitting down thing down . I also let them run around the house bottomless so when they had to go they would grab their junk or had this really confused look on their face which was a sign hurry take them to the potty. Trying to time potty after food and fluids always helped they normally had to go minutes after intake . Staying positive and CONSISTENT is key . Also taking him into the bathroom when you go potty and explain in a fun voice what your doing .. make potty training a fun interesting thing for him get him excited about it .. Your not just potty training him but training yourself to talk him potty.

At pp he'll be trained befor he's 4. At that point he doesnt have a choice. Im hoping hell be potty trained by the time my babys here in november

One thing I was told and have stuck by also is once you start don't go turning back! If you start putting him in undies then keep it up no matter if he has accidents. He will have them and that's just something you will have to deal with.

I probably wouldn't make the transition to a bed while training him, not until he has a bit of an idea etc. Too much, too soon. His little brain will be going nuts trying to keep up. lol

ALSO LADIES, do you reccomend i potty train then move him to his toddler bed or vise versa? I ask because he has a brand new todddler bed set up in his room across from the crib he currently sleeps in and my new baby will sleep in when he/she is born. We set it up so he'd get used to it. He slept in it a couple of nights and then he wanted his crib desperately so i figured he wasnt ready for a big boy bed and put him back in the crib.

Yes lol im not sure theres too many kids that dont love paw patrol! Maybe ill try the big boy underwear along with that website and see if it doesnt interest him more. If not then i will wait for a month or so and try again. I appreciate all the opinions on this post too! I know im not the only one dealing with this but to have other people give me their insight reassures me that it will happen and i can do this!

@CeNedra hit up amazon I'm sure they have a lot of stuff his family bought him a paw patrol tent for Christmas that he likes to pitch in the middle of the living room it's his "play room" ?

My son turns 4 in June. He has only been fully trained for about 2 weeks. Since last June he was wearing pull ups to bed. He wasn't ready till the month of his 3rd birthday.

hahaha too cute. Aliyn is Skye and Marshall mad lately. It sucks because we have such limited range of Paw Patrol items here Grrr. All I want is a nice plate, bowl, cup and cutlery set for her bday. Hoping they bring more things here for them soon. Everything still seems bloody frozen or trolls lol

@CeNedra omg yes lol has paw patrol everything! That was one thing that got him really excited I would tell him "we can't poop or pee on chase" ? he would nod agreement he loves his big boy underwear.

If you train to young before they are ready you risk doing more harm than good pp. There has been studies and some evidence that some bed-wetting and elderly incontinence are due to early toilet training.

There's heaps of links and tips OP, this one I thought wasn't too bad and may ease your mind a bit and give you some tips.

On another note is your kid paw patrol mad to Filter? My girl refuses to wear any undies except for her Paw Patrol ones lol

I forced it with my son he will be 3 in may and I'm due in June I'm NOT changing 2 kids diapers. So I just bought him some paw patrol underwear and sat him on the potty every 15-20 min for 3 days. He had accidents of course but by day 3 he really understood the concept of peeing and pooping on the potty, he only gets a treat if he poops because he'll pee several times a day.

That was a month ago now he pees and poops on the potty all day except bedtime. I just bought him pull-ups but before it was strictly underwear at home so he could feel it. I was were you are I was so lost and felt like he would never get the hang of it but it was really a lack of consistency on my part that was hindering him. We're still working on him telling me he has to go but he only has maybe 3-4 accidents a week at this point ?

I couldn't imagine changing a 3yo diapers. All my brothers and sisters including me were potty trained around 1 year. Same with my closest cousins. I hope the same for my child..

I definitely dont like to push things if he isnt ready i just thought he was but maybe thats why its been such a struggle is maybe he actually isnt ready.

And 3 or 3.5 isnt too late? I just dont want ro be looked at like a bad parent because my sons 3 and not potty trained.. Lol i know sounds silly but i get scared of judgement

My daughter is almost 3.5 and shes now almost fully potty trained but just during the day.. even tho she did show early sings months back, every time i wanted to put her on the potty she didnt like it and wanted me to get her off of it.. not even the treats worked. So i just waited it out! Now its been like 3rd day and shes doing awesome yesterday she did not have any accidents i even took her out in a public with just an underwear (took extra clothes just in case) she peed before we left, and then again at target lol! Today she did have 3 accidents but for the most part shes doing really good & honestly its been pretty easy

Well i thought he was ready because sometimes hell sit on the potty with bath crayons and color the toilet seat when i ask him if he wasnts to try and go. But thats only occasionally. Also i thought he was ready because his diapers are fairly dry in the morning and stay dry throughout the day

Put cheerios in the toilet and make it a game if he can shot them

Prizes did not work for my son either. He would expect it and then it became a battle. I brought his potty into the living room, put him in under wear, and set a timer for every 30 minutes or so. Every time he went he got a high five, he loved the excitement I showed. He was already 3 so your son may not quite be ready yet and that's okay. Once my son was truly ready, potty training was so easy and so much less stressful than trying before he was ready. He started holding his pee for longer periods of time.

I want to train my son as well. He shows no sign and doesn't know the difference between Pee and poo. Gets scared when I put him on the toilet. So I'll just keep waiting.

What signs is he showing that he's ready? My son wasn't interested at all until he was close to 3.5. After waiting for him to be ready he was super easy to train, but if you start before they're ready it can prolong the process.

Take a chunk of time (multiple days) and have him walk around in just underwear. Wet pants should feel uncomfortable. My husband and son also had a sticker chart. Every time they used the bathroom they got a sticker, so it was like a competition. That worked well for my first son.
