My son gets it about 3 days a week. Sometimes 4 if he has a test coming up.

Ds comes home with a packet of activities to work on. A book to read, sight word flashcards, etc. It isn't something that gets turned in... It just helps us know what they are learning in class each week. We get a new one sent home each Friday and we return the pack before before the next Thursday. We also have a reading calendar that we mark off each evening. He can turn it in at the end of the month for a prize... usually a certificate for a free kids meal at different local restaurants.

My ds is in prep (kindergarten) in Australia. It sounds fairly similar. He has sight words to learn each week. Two home readers for him to read the 4 weeknights. A letters and sounds book to write in. Occasional little projects.

My son is in pre k and they have homework. They told us in orientation that pre k is now like kindergarten and kindergarten is now like first grade. Supposedly they have to teach them a lot in order to pass the state tests.

My DD doesn’t have homework. I was expecting her to. Her teacher does send home a sheet every Monday with things to work on at home to go along with what they are working on in class, but nothing she actually has to do and turn in.

No. We get activities that we can do at home but nothing that needs to be handed in.

Also, our son's teacher lets them write with whatever lol pencil, marker, pen, crayon etc.

All I'm required to do is initial his agenda.

Although my son goes to French immersion so maybe that's why? ??‍♀️

My kindergartner hasn't had any homework except for when he missed two days of school.

My first grader has a book in a bag with a new book each week to read. Another book to read which he will have a test on, and weekly spelling words to study for, along with high frequency words and sentences to write.

Dd had a packet of homework that came home on Monday and was due on Friday each week.

My niece did. She had to practice her sight words, ABCs, reading, math, colors, and 10 mins of reading. Depending on her mood took up 30 mins to an hour a night. It was nuts!

We have a kindergartener. She’s only had homework maybe 1-2x this year. And it was a worksheet they gave us the week to fill out.

Nope! We have a second grader. The only thing he has had starting in 1st were weekly spelling words that we practice nightly, test on Friday. We are supposed to read every night starting in Kindergarten, but no paper we have to sign or anything. ?

My kindergartener has optional homework everyday except Fridays. Also reading at least one book a day. We usually can get it done no problem unless we have a family event or something. Reading everyday is easy as it’s part of our bedtime routine anyway.

Mine doesnt other than his is supppsed to read 1 book every night.

My dd had it in kindergarten, but for 1st grade they now took it out as being mandatory. They still give it and leave it up to the parents to correct.

I don't think checking how often you read is demeaning ? that used to be my favorite homework it was called kbar(kick back and read) and it was such a simple nice thing to get credit for! I would only be upset about being checked if I wasn't actually doing it.... and unfortunately it can't be taken for granted that everyone is.

Yes that's exactly what dd has everyday. It takes less than 10 minutes a night and then we read 15-20 minutes every night and log it. I actually really like it. She's learning responsibility and it keeps her dad and I connected to what's going on at school. We have her do additional "hw" (a simple work page, takes 5 minutes) if she wants to watch TV or a movie also.

Jeeeeez, hw sure learning outside the classroom is important but checking off how often you read is demeaning. Reading is important but that's between you and your kid, schools need not keep tabs on parents. Next youll have to report how often they eat veggies.

In kindergarten mine had 30 minutes of written homework per night and we were expected to read to him 30 minutes per night (which we did as part of bedtime routine anyway.)

In first grade he has an hour of written work per night and is expected to read to himself 20 minutes per night.

My kindergartner gets a packet with a few worksheets on Monday and if you turn it in on Friday they get smarties candy, so it's optional. My son absolutely loves school so he always insists he do it all Monday afternoon lol.

My son is in kindergarten and has a mon-fri homework pack with something different to do each day and 20 mins of reading a night also have to mark the book names and how long for each book. The library gives them a free book if they read all month. We also have a family project sometimes

Zero homework in kindergarten, grade 1 he has about 5-10 short sentences to read every night

Yes he has a paper labeled Monday thru Friday each day he practices numbers writing rhymes. Simple stuff

You check the boxes of all you did then Friday you turn it in

He also gets a book of about 5 pages to read every day and get a new one every Tuesday
