Overnight Potty Training

At what age are kids normally able to go the night without diapers? Or how long after regular (daytime) potty training?

I guess we were kind of lucky. My son stopped peeing over night around 18 months. Now he didn't start using the potty until he was almost 3. I think all kids are so different. My other friends that have kiddos my son's age (3) still wear diapers overnight. I know they try to limit liquids before bed but that can be hard sometimes if the child is thirsty.

My daughter has been day trained since her second birthday. She is now 3.5 and still wears a pull up to bed. Mostly because I have an obnoxious amount of them. She is always dry but it seems when he let her go to sleep in panties all is well for a week then she has accidents.

Night training is something that you develop, not learn. And some kids don't learn until the age 12 or so. It's all normal. Denying kids water isn't a solution in my opinion.

My dd was day potty trained at 18 months. She is almost 2.5 and has probably woken up wet less than 10 times since then. We put a diaper on at night just in case because I'd rather wash a wet diaper than wet bed sheets (: She will wake up and tell me she needs to potty in the middle of the night, usually.

Both my boys were 2.5 I waited til they were dry through the night before I trained them during the day and then got it all done at once. I do have a mattress protector on their beds.

They kind of go together if u ask me. One sign of time for potty training is dry in the mornings. No specific age by 2 or 2 1/2 for sure my son didn't wear a pull up to bed anymore

When he would stay the night with grandma she would use pull ups at night and I think this caused him to think it was ok to pee in them more often or maybe she was giving him fluids to close to bed time

Dd was out of day nappies a month or two before turning 3. We kept her in night nappies but she rarely needed them - once day trained she was pretty much night trained also. We stopped 'just in case' night nappies a month or two after turning three.

My son is 3.5yo and just recently wet his pull up at night when he was sick, but since Christmas has been dry at night. It's been a struggle so I was so proud when he finally got it.

I think it depends. My mom had me trained at one year old because I hated to sit in wet diapers (cloth) and refused to go in it. So she showed me the potty once and that was that. But my younger brother wasn't trained until four.

My son is three and never wets at night but has accidents during the day often. So I'm in a reverse situation lol

My dd does 99% of time now at 2.

My son will be 4 in July. He's been day time trained since December and is just now going to bed with underwear instead of pull ups. He's dry probably 6 out of 7 mornings. Good luck!

Dd was fully trained by 2 1/2, no accidents. I waited to start training until she consistently woke up dry in the morning, could tell me she needed to go, and could pull her pants off.

My daughter is 2 (last december) and we stop liquids at dinner and take her for a last bathroom break about 10/11.. she's daytime and night time trained.. it all depends on the child and to a point dedication of the parents ... we also took away all diapers even at night. We found them to be a crutch

My daughter is 2.5 and she never wears diapers. We through them all out so they were not a crutch during potty training. We don't give her liquids two hours before bed other than an occasional sip of water if she needs it. She has not had and accident yet and it's been a little over a month sense she has been potty trained.

My son is 3 and has been daytime potty trained for almost a year. He still wears pull ups at night and is probably dry about 10-15% of the time. We have cut off his fluids before bed and tried waking him up to pee and nothing has helped. His pediatrician said its normal and to expect it to take a little longer.

My son is 4 and was fully potty trained day and night 4 months before his 4th birthday. He has had one night time accident and some spillage on himself. we cut drinks off at 7pm and had him go potty before bed.

Good luck

My dd is 3 and just recently became night time trained. Occasionally we have an accident, but it's usually because I forgot to cut her fluids off in time. She's been day time trained since just before she turned 2.

How do you potty train a child who has absolutely no desire to be potty trained, and actively fights against it?

fairykarmamomma I was in the situation where I needed to have my son potty trained for a preschool.
mommytoveralang I literally took all the pullups and put her in underwear and she had like 2 accidents
