Well, it sounds like its too late to try another method of defense. I'd say your plan isn't 100% full proof. You may or may not have killed it. Depending on what is available. I will use my husbands shoe (not mine), trap it under a glass and let it suffocate and have hubs remove it later, spray it with spray glue or hair spray. It is the spiders initial response to curl up when sprayed at and this can glue them together into a ball. Lastly, if the hubs is home, yell for him! I think praying he doesn't retaliate is your only option now! lol

My ex husband told me once that we swallow spiders in our sleep. They crawl in our mouths and we swallow them. I didnt sleep for days. Freaked me out. Dunno if it true, but it was a scary thought.

I'm afraid to ask, are they called bird spiders because they eat birds? Are the size of birds? Both possibilities are frightening.

We get bird spiders in the house here. Feels like your sucking up a small animal. ?

I still check the shower head randomly throughout taking a shower because of Arachnaphobia. Most disturbing scene ever.

I hate wolf spiders more then any other spider. We have some HUGE ones and I always scream like a little girl

Actually ruby, some spiders carry their offspring on their backs. It could have looked like you vacuumed one, but then hundreds could pop up.

I put it outside. Will have dh empty it when he gets home. If there isn't a large (hopefully dead) spider in there I'm going to freak out that its still in my house.

If you're not too afraid to dump out the container out of the vacuum, I say dump it in the trash and thrown that sucker outside.

If not then yeah I second putting the vacuum outside. But then you might get other spiders of bugs crawling inside it! Ahhhh!

On the contrary, the vacuum provides a nice breeding ground for spiders. They can lay eggs quickly, and soon you'll have a nest in it. They can crawl out of the vacuum and infest your entire home. Be wary at night, because that's when they're most active. You could wake up to hundreds of spiders in your room.
