Bronchitis?
Still waiting for my after hour ob line to call me. I went to the local urgent care last night since it's a weekend and was diagnosed with bronchitis. No blood work, just a quick listen to the lungs. As soon as they saw the big pregnant belly it was a race to get my ass out of there. Even asked me why I wouldn't go to the hospital I'm delivery at. Why the eff would I go to the hospital (on a Friday night at that) when it's not that serious? That would have been a waste of like 5-6 hours. Well today it's getting worse, the coughing fits are pretty intense. The last 3 or 4 of the fits I've coughed up blood. Can bronchitis cause bloody mucus? I'm not going to lie, it startled the shat out of me.

That's really weird of them!! Bronchitis is basically a cough without pneumonia. So basically when they listened to you, they didn't hear any abnormal lung sounds...which is a good thing. Most bronchitis are viral, so most docs I know won't give you antibiotics without there being another bacterial component. Now if it goes on for a while without getting better, bacteria can start growing...so it can turn into a bacterial infection...just keep an eye out for green sputum...or if it keeps up...You can cough up blood tinged mucus due to all the little capillaries along the way...esp if you've been coughing a lot. I would do virgin hot toddys...Vicks on your chest...plenty of water, vit C & D...I have a few more home remedies if you're interested.
