Is it time to inform my doctor.
Is it time to inform my doctor.
My next visit isn't until late July. I've been on a diet for months now. At first the weight was coming off slowly but surely. I went from 188ish to 177 in almost two months. Nothing huge but it was progress. But now it doesn't seem to matter how hard I diet or exercise. I even tried cutting calories down to 1500 (vs 1700) a day with cardio 4 times a week. Eating low carbs and the ones I did eat were whole grain. Eating a protein and a fruit first thing in the morning, small snacks every 3 hours. Never letting myself get truly hungry. I did this for almost 3 weeks and didn't lose 1 single pound. At my job I walk anywhere from 7-10 miles. I work 3 to 4 days a week. After those shifts it is really hard to work out or do Casio just because my feet and back are killing me. I don't really have anything else that would throw red flags. I'm tired all the time but I have an 11 month old and my job is tiring, so that just seems normal to me. Idk I'm thinking maybe I should call my doctor and tell her what is going on, but honestly I'm not sure if she could do anything. On one hand I feel like something can't be right, there no way I shouldn't be losing a few pounds a month dieting and exercising that hard. I'm not even losing inches either. On the other hand, I know some people hit dry patches during diets. I've made a lifestyle change and it's starting to get frustrating not seeing any results. ??? i just want to be healthy.

With all that activity you should eat more calories. You're doing too much and eating too little so your body isn't letting go of the weight. Try eating 300-400 calories more of healthy foods a day and you might start seeing a change in the next week or two.

There's so many factors to consider. How many calories are you burning a day? Los carb diets show great results up front because they make you lose a lot of water right away. They aren't that great for long term, sustained weight loss, however. Are you tracking your calories, portions, etc? Why are you only doing cardio? Mix it up, add some weights. Stress can stall weight loss. Also, doctors are rarely trained in nutrition. You might be better off talking to a dietician or nutritionist. If you want tips and advice, message me.

I tried eating 1700-1800 calories and it was the same story. After a few months no more weight loss. That's why I dropped it a few hundred calories to see if that would help. I portion control as well. I've done that the whole time I've tried to get healthy this time. I do mix it with working out. I use bands and do some yoga after. As for how many calories I burn a day, it's honestly not possible to figure that out. I'm a waitress/bartender in a very fast environment. During the waitress part of my shifts some trays can be up to 25 lbs. i would never be about to figure out how many calories I burn on a shift. I always stash snacks in my apron to keep my body going. A few nuts, a small green apple, tried a tiny container with peanut butter for the apples to give it a good balance. It busted in my apron, not a good look ?? I'm to the point where I'm just starting to get frustrated I guess. Honestly though, stress has been pretty high lately. Maybe that going be playing a part, didn't consider that.

If you are very active with your job, you could be eating too few calories. That can slow down your metabolism, too. It's still easy to get a general estimate of how much you burn. Message me and I'll do the calculations for you.

Do you add in a cheat day? They help with metabolism beneficent it's a day of reasonably increase in calories. It helps your body know it doesn't have to store calories

Did you take your measurements? Are you sure you're not losing inches while gaining muscle?

I messaged you Christi. Worth a shot. @ironman, I do a cheat meal once a week. @chrismay, don't you swear at me like that lol jk no, my periods have started to regular out since I only pump twice a day. @capri I have taken measures, they do flex a little day to day. I have gained a small amount of muscle but I naturally have bulky muscles anyways.

Thyroid maybe? That's one of the factors that caused me to be so tired and could not lose a single pound either

If you're a still pumping, that could be the cause. The hormones while expressing milk can actually prevent weight loss. With my kids I couldn't lose a pound while feeding, but the second I stopped, it melted off.

If you are constantly fatigued, and not losing weight, talk to your doctor about it. You could have hypothyroidism getting in the way, or other things. It never hurts to consult a doctor in your weight loss journey.

Try looking at more natural foods. I tried whole 30 (similar to paleo) when I hit a plateau and it got me over. I've had a few friends that did the same thing.
Whole 30 helps identify the foods that your body can't handle as well and gets you eating more naturally.

1700 calories seems like a lot??

Maybe you are not loosing weight because you gaining muscles, try to measure belly etc maybe? Maybe your body is replacing fat with muscles and that's why it's not showing up on the scale

1700 is a good amount of calories for somebody at your activity level and size. I'd aim for more protein, maybe a little less carbs and make sure you're tracking as accurately as possible.... I'd also incorporate more heavy lifting and less cardio. I also highly suggest you start taking pictures and measurements. The scale is only one tool with which to measure progress, and thanks to sodium levels, water intake, hormonal fluctuations and sugar/carbs intake the scale can be a lying B word. So, take a million progress photos and break out the measuring tape, because when the scale isn't your friend, they will be. I've lost 85 lbs (check out my past posts for photos). And message me anytime ☺️

I can't lose any weight while breast-feeding either... Even though you are up only pumping twice a day I know quite a few women who can't lose anything until after they completely stopped producing milk
