Cll leukemia
My dad was just given his final diagnosis. Cll leukemia. They haven't given him a stage quite yet. They will the first week in June. Although they do believe they caught it early. I don't want to get on Google quite yet, I don't think I'm ready to read about it tonight. I would rather ask if anyone on here has a family member or anything going through this. And what advice they would have for my family in the mean time. If you are more comfortable with pm that is fine as well. Thank you in advice.

We are kind of in the same boat with ds, but don't have an official diagnosis yet. His doctors think he may have AML or MDS. We will (hopefully) find out next week.
My advice would be to ask his doctor the questions you have, as well as other professionals. I think the Internet can be a useful tool, especially official websites like cancer.org, etc, but don't rely on them for your main resource.
Emotional wise, I would just say be as strong as you can, but it's also okay to be sad, angry, etc. Its so overwhelming and a lot to take in. Help him understand what's going on, too, if needed. And just be there as much as you can for him.
ETA- I'm so sorry you all are going through this. He will be in my prayers.

Oh hunny, I so sorry your son is going through this as well. My heart is breaking for you and your family. You will all be in my thoughts. As far as we know now they will be doing the "sit and wait". I'm not going to lie, it makes no sense to me, but I'm not the one with a Ph.D. or 20+ years in the field. We just laid my grandmother to rest a few weeks ago due to lung cancer, so everything is fresh in our minds. My dads oncologist is the same as my grandmothers. He is amazing and I know he will do everything he can for my father like he did my grandmother. ?

The waiting game is the worst. I mean, I understand in the case of diagnosis, but if you have the diagnosis, what is the wait for? That would be a question I would ask. I'm sure the doctor can explain.
I'm sorry for your grandma, too. It's so tough, and I can't imagine getting the news while that is so fresh.

The wait is because it is not curable. It is a life time diagnosis. If it's not getting worse and his white cells aren't getting out of control then they just leave it be. Again, I'm sorry, I'm just relaying what I remember being told. I know they will do a chemo pill in the future when things start to hit the fan. I know I want to ask the doctor about bone marrow. I don't know if in the future if I can donate for him, maybe I would be a match. Although I will be going next week to sign up anyways. Maybe I can help someone else going through something similar. I feel it may give me a little feeling of control over this situation.

Ah okay, I wasn't sure. I am not familiar with the different types of leukemia or how age affects, etc.
Hopefully they can get him into remission through the best treatment and someone can help you shed more light on it and give more advice and info.
Good luck to him! ❤️
