Work wrote me up for pregnancy
Work wrote me up for pregnancy
Let's start by saying that I have worked here for almost 2 years and less than 6 months ago they gave me a raise and said I was doing awesome. But ever since they found out I'm pregnant in March it's like they are looking for things that they can write me up for. Any who they found two little things that don't even matter to write me up for and I've proven them wrong on after they MADE me sign it. So I sent them an email to get back with me to revise it since neither things are true, but they have yet to respond. But anyway here is why I am pissed, on my write up it states: "Another coworker stated that (my name) told everyone in the office that she wasn't coming back after maternity leave because her husband made enough money" which I did not say, I said for two children I might as well not work because it's 300 a week for daycare. But they wrote that on my write up. Isn't that discrimination? Are they allowed to put something about maternity leave or pregnancy on a write up? I'm just super mad about it and wanted some opinions on what to do.

Someone twisted your words in a way but I would not have trusted anyone to say such a thing. Now they are feeling like you'll run off.
You said you "might as well not" work. Do you know whom you said it to? That person is your issue.
I am not sure if they could write you up... They may try to lay you off though. Get an upper to help.

I don't know? There isn't one in place, he said that he just didn't want anyone there that didn't want to be there? But writing me up for hearsay in the office is absurd.

No he wouldn't say. But there is only 4 other girls in the same office with me so there is slim picking when it comes down to it.

This seems like a he said, she said situation. If that's the case and they have absolutely no proof of you saying this, then I don't think you should have been written up. However, if you sort of confirmed it by saying what the price of daycare was and that you might as well not work, you sort of confirmed it which makes your superiors think that you have no intentions of sticking around once your baby is born. I would think that they would talk to you about it and ask what your plans are first, especially if you're not breaking any policies by entertaining the idea.

That's the thing is that I've paid into my maternity leave through my short term disability and have plenty in there to cover it. They wouldn't be out any money, so the only thing is that they are just trying to get me out of there. Also he said someone complained I'm never in my chair. But I'm always sitting down in my chair unless I get up to pee because I'm pregnant. So I'm going to have my doctor write me a note on Thursday when I go that says I have to get up to pee. The only place to go is the office we are all in or the bathroom there is no where to go.

That I was informed of it. But they made me sign it and I've printed copies of everything. They won't respond to my rejection of the two things I found wrong.

You should've never signed anything. That's basically admitting whatever they say you did wrong

They told me that if I didn't sign then I would be fired. It shows it was a verbal write up.

They still didn't force you to sign the papers. That was your choice. Honestly, I would've told I quit if they wanted to play that BS with me. Also, should be a lesson learned: never trust anyone.
