Yes they have me on anti coagulants but not blood thinners. I was switched to a high risk doctor and he says unless I plan starting cross fit (a joke lol) then I’ll be fine. Just don’t over do it. I take labs ever 2 weeks to make sure the shots are working.

He said my body will break it down in a few months hopefully. But he’s doing a great job at monitoring it. He said since the swelling went down that’s proof that it’s at least gotten smaller.

I’m due August 13th.

It’s really scary indeed!!! They have to thin the blood to reduce the size of clot. I’m no expert but my dad had a couple of these.

That’s why I’m surprised there isn’t something more that can be done. The risk of it moving seems like it would outweigh the risks of medication while pregnant. I obviously don’t know much, and I’m sure her doctors are doing what they can. Just so scary ?

@mommaRach in order to decrease the size of blood clots, ppl who aren’t pregnant have to take blood thinners. Those are really dangerous during pregnancy so I’m not sure what OP is taking. They can’t just remove them. The danger w some blood clots from what I understand is that they can dislodge from where they are and it can be fatal (pulmonary embolism).

They thought I had one pregnant but false alarm.

Why can they not get rid of it? It seems so dangerous to me just letting it sit. When is baby due OP? Glad you’re feeling better though.

One leg was doubled in size, red, and i couldn’t move it without bawling.

I still have the clot but the swelling has gone down a lot and I can walk now.

They want me on bed rest until the pain is manageable and until my next appointment so they can see if it’s breaking down.

i had a massive blood clot after my second son, from my hip to my calf. it was the worse pain i have ever felt!! because of that i am on lovenox 1x a day for this pregnancy as a precaution and cant ever take bc again.

i also think its strange they put you on bedrest, with mine they wanted me up an moving as soon as i was able. are youh wearing compression socks/leggings?

Out of curiosity..... why do your doctors feel that bed rest is the best option for you if you have a blood clot!? I guess I understand it until the clot breaks up but I would very strongly consider a second opinion if they recommend it beyond that point.

I have a clotting disorder, with no history of clots yet, but was told bed rest is like the worst thing for it. And it seems pretty logical to me...

I hope that you heal quickly!

So scary! Does your family have a history of clotting? BC does increase risk for blood clotting.

I’ll be praying!!

Yup, that happened my first pregnancy. ?

It took almost 2 weeks for the swelling to go totally down.

I've had to take the shots for all subsequent pregnancies as well, and no more estrogen based or hormonal birth control. I take lovenox, and it's once per day. Also have to get frequent blood tests to make sure the levels are good.

It's no fun, but the kiddos are worth it!

I can’t take the pill blood thinner because it’s dangerous to the baby. So they put me on the twice a day shots that are way safer for the baby. But less effective blood thinner.

Doctor was very shocked when he found out it was a blood clot. Glad they caught it.

My whole leg is swollen and I have to use crutches to get to the bathroom. Switching to a wheelchair tomorrow to help lessen the movement.

Oh no, sorry OP is it a blood thinner?? Very dangerous so please take bed rest seriously. My dad had a clot in his leg and he had to take blood thinners.

I'm sorry, that's scary! I hope the shots aren't too bad and it goes away. Any chance of that?
