Why do people feel so concerned about what other people do. There are real issues in the world needing attention. This is like an onion article- local woman is an authority on what should & shouldn't be in poor people's grocery carts. Who has such audacity to sit in a place of nosy judgement.

Honestly I don't know how I qualify for WIC...I'm a full time teacher who just let go of my second job at a hospital because of complications I was receiving with my pregnancy. I established Medicaid because I took out the lowest insurance my district offered. However moral of the story is, Sat Walmart was crowded to the max and I hoped on line. My Wic and regular food behind it and this man was getting anxious/annoyed staring at me. I stared right back! I wish someone would come out their mouth a certain way so I could let them know I'm a full time teacher with a masters who teachers their future with my own home and car! You don't know people story and they are so judgmental.I commend all the mothers on here who hop on any supermarket line with people staring...remember you are doing it to help get baby and your home what they need. Knock out I wish I could contact that FB ex-friend of yours. I'm glad you posted this...because this is how people are in this small minded world.

I honestly never pay attention to the people in front of me in line or how they pay for stuff. Its honestly ridiculous. We had food stamps after my husband was laid off and sometimes people would stand so freaking close to me as I paid, back the hell up! So sorry I used my card for bananas and some muffins :-\

I have found that when I have my nose too far up someone else's ass that everything starts to smell like s*** . I'm much happier minding my own business and going about my own life. Unfortunately judgmental people are incapable of learning this lesson. She's only making herself miserable.

Here's the kicker. The roommate she mentioned is on disability and that's how they pay for there bills.

Nothing wrong with being on disability, you can't control if you need it or not, but she should be more considerate of others needing help too

It's a sad world we live in where not only do people need help buying food because they've fallen on hard times, but then others complain that they're actually buying wholesome food with the help they receive. I highly doubt this person wants to make so little that they need help providing food for their children.

I can't stand people like that either, OP. I would have blocked them after telling them that they suck lol

I agree with PP...at least she's using it to buy healthy food for her children. I worked at a gas station and these three 20-something people came in at like 1 in the morning and spent 10 minutes putting chips, sodas, candy...just junk food, on the counter, and whipped out their food stamps card to pay for it. I enjoyed telling them we didn't take food stamps AND making them put ALL that stuff back before they left, lol!

I also had a lady that came in with her son, probably 4, and he wanted a little thing of juice (it was 99 cents) and his mom said to put it back, she didn't have the money for it, but proceeded to get a couple of 20 oz sodas (1.69 ea) and some gum or candy or something, and tried to pay for it with her food stamps...again, I enjoyed telling her we didn't take food stamps. I couldn't believe she wouldn't buy her baby some juice, but would buy herself (or someone) sodas and candy. SMH.

In this case darn of you darn if you don't. Some people. Smh

Wow... I don't even know what to say. Food is kinda important so what if she is on welfare sorry not everyone can afford food without some help. People need to chill out.

One of these days I would like to go grocery shopping without being in front of Ms. Self-Righteous. People like her were the reason I was mortified to use WIC in public when my husband & I were struggling to find good-paying work.

I used to work at a grocery store back when food stamps were actually like monopoly money. I can't tell you how often I saw people use them for nothing but junk food. At least this mom was using her card to buy real food.

Why is it any of business what food she buys. Shes buying cottage cheese last I check that real, nutritious, healthy, food.

Also notice how she calls her "ms." Unless she knows she not married that seems like a stereotype.
