Hey babysquishy - my baby wouldn't take a bottle (got physically I'll when people tried to give her one) should I just have stayed at home all the time.. Seriously what would you have had me done? Try to give her a bottle of pumped milk and have her get sick because I'm making someone else uncomfortable? Yeah I don't think so.
Also old fashioned... Breast feeding is OLD FASHIONED last time I checked pumps are a newer thing and formula wasn't always around.
I'm sorry I'm old fashioned and don't like seeing other peoples boobs hanging out that's something personal with your child, pump it before you leave and respect other people just because you have to feed your baby doesn't mean you just dgaf about others. Pump to go out and feed at home. Just sayin
@maalika I need to move then lol! I swear what some people wear in Walmart is worse than being naked lol.
In Michigan the 'breastfeeding' law is:
Mich. Comp. Laws § 41.181, § 67.1aa and § 117.4i et seq. (1994) state that public nudity laws do not apply to a woman breastfeeding a child
Michigan mothers are only protected from getting charged with indecent exposure, legally we can still be told to leave or stop breastfeeding in a public place.
It is very sad but very much true, many breastfeeding mothers have come together to have a law put in place in order to stop the discrimination of bfing children but unfortunately this has yet to change. Just last month mother refused to quit bfing in a restaurant and was told to leave. They did not get in trouble because it is not against the law.
@maa I didn't mean to offend you. I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Brestfeeding is a beautiful thing! But these days if you don't have precautions people can take advantage of anything.
If they didn't say "discrete" then it would be perfectly legal for a woman to rip her shirt off and walk around Walmart as long as she was breast feeding.
(Most people would have the sense not too, but I'm sure something like that would happen)
I try to be discreet (for my comfort only), I wear vests & t's so it's only my nipple that needs to come out, but my lil man likes to have a nosey round every minute or so whilst he's eating so every now and again I flash a bit! Can't be helped. But I really couldn't care less who sees, if you don't wanna chance seeing a bit of flesh then don't watch me whilst I feed my baby - simple.
@Maalika this is why I'm afraid to NIP, I tried practicing at home with a blanket and my dd hates it under there. She starts to freak out when I put the blanket over her while nursing. I'd much rather do with out it but I'm scared of getting dirty looks which in turn would make me uncomfortable. Meh so I'm stuck pumping milk for when I have to go out with dd so she can drink from a bottle the "normal" way to avoid drama.
I'm not talking about a cover, I would never cover but like I've said I've seen women abuse the power to breast feed by letting their breast hang out for minutes before ever picking up their child. Why is that necessary? I've seen great nip pictures on here where you can't even tell they are breast feeding. To me, that's discretion.
I'm sorry but not everyone thinks like that. I don't wanna see your booby.
I just don't understand all the commotion over boobs. They're not a big deal! It won't scar anyone for life to see a nipple. I just can't comprehend.
Literally every person I know saw my boobs while I was breastfeeding dd. My entire family, friends, co-workers....if you know me, you've seen my nipple. As far as I know, no therapy had been needed for any of them.
And I'm not talking about the baby feeding but I've worked in a mall there are women who will literally take their breast out then pick up their baby and do other stuff to get situated and ready to feed with their breast hanging out!
Discretion isn't hiding in a bathroom or going some place else.
@maalika I support breast feeding 100% but I would still feel uncomfortable if someone popped out there boob in the middle of the mall without trying to cover up at all.
They just included that just In case there was ever an issue where breast feeding clashed with public nudity.
I made copies of it and gave them to my SIL and cousin lol

I hate the "as much discretion as possible" clause. It actually infuriates me. This law needs a revision.
