The only think I keep thinking is, imagine getting into an accident with a good sized dog that's not strapped in at all, all that weight now becoming a projectile force flying toward you.... boy that would hurt having a German Shepard flying at your head at 50mph... ? I don't know if "car seat" would be practical, but attached some how, for the safety of everyone in the car, I think should be necessary
Eta: I have a good friend who's a paramedic and she said when in an accident a Kleenex box can become a weapon that can cause serious damage, because of the velocity it travel at (if flying at your head). Imagine a dog!!!
No its more likely to hurt a dog restraining them and them freaking out than the chance of an accident while they are in my car. Plus chances are in an accident a car seat would also likely be dangerous for the.
I only have them in my car back and forth to the vet thought. Which is what my vet recommends.
YES ! Omg I have been saying this for far too long . They need some sort of safety system for pets in cars. Nothing makes me madder then when I see people driving with their dog in their laps, for one it is a danger to other drivers because if that dog goes to jump out for what ever reason your first reaction will be to grab them which means having no control of vehicle, for two not to mention the injuries the poor animals could get in an accident ): .
Hmmm it's not a bad idea. I'm always concerned about my dog when she's riding in the car with us. Ik in some states if they're in the truck bed, they have to be tied up so they don't jump out but that could be unsafe in the case of an accident. Car seats would probably be better. ?
Like a car seat for pets.
So in a car accident your dogs are done. I feel like that's neglectful.
I just don't travel with mine unless it's the vet. When they ride it's in the very back of my SUV. I think there should be some form of safety for them
