Give me your experience
My husband wants to switch to union for plumbing. I’ve never experienced him being in a union bc he’s never been a union worker. Can anyone tell me the good, bad, and the ugly?

My brother is a 4th year plumbing and pipe fitting union apprentice. They provide education and training, benefits including vision, dental, pension and life insurance, and each union has their set of bylaws and things they’ve bargained for, like a 4-10s shift or mandatory double time for all OT, more vacation pay, etc. It varies depending on your “local” but most have their bylaws and pay scale posted online. Unions often pay better wages than non union positions doing the same work. When the US had the largest number of union workers vs non union workers we also had the highest median income we’ve ever seen. It’s not a coincidence.
