Murdock....I think that might be it. My new fridge is the French door style with the drawer freezer. With 2 compressors so the freezer and fridge are cooled and humidity controlled independently. Possibly that it, or a more consistent temp? It also has 3 drawers and I'm using the very center drawer for ice making and have it set to 0 degrees.

It wasn't even difficult! Some of the big pieces are a tad cloudy in the center but I think that could be remedied with boiling the water. But purified water straight out of the bottle did the trick just fine.
