I've never been able to vocalize how much I hate shaving... so this is refreshing. My problem is I also love feeling smooth. For as long as my legs are hair free, I act like I'm in a freakin Nair commercial and rub my legs all over my husband -_- then I go back to being hairy and dgaf... I can only Nair my pits because I get horrible reactions when I shave em. DH understands but I'm sure he'd appreciate if I kept up with that. But the hair is sooooo soooooffffffftttttttt lmao

Do people stare when they see hairy armpits? Hell if I know because I am not self conscious over it. My sisters tell me I'm gross all the time and blah blah blah but what is so gross about it?

To me when you shave the hair your damaging your skin, don't have a barrier for bad bacteria etc so if anything that's more gross.

I dont see what it matters. It bothers me if I dont shave but sometimes I wish I didn't since it takes forever in the shower then. I just prefer the feeling of shaved then having any hair. My SO also wouldn't care. I doubt he'd even notice lol.

I'll never forget being in 4th grade and having a boy tell me my legs were ugly and hairy in front of everyone. I went home and shaved and cried. I cut my shins. My mom let me shave with her electric razor after that, but I wish she would've just said, "don't pay two s*** s to those jerks, your little hairy legs are beautiful."

I don't shave my underarms. I shave my legs below the knee every other week or so because I hate the hair pulling in my leggings.

I personally choose to shave but whenever I see someone say body hair is gross or that it's disgusting not to shave, I assume they are 12. So immature.

I shave my legs and armpits like... Once a week.

I don't shave my vag. I find its more uncomfortable when the hair grows back. And if I shave too often it hurts. So I opted to trimming with scissors every few weeks. And for the record, I don't like oral.

It's not just frowned upon in America though. It's a huge deal here if you don't shave. And that's from supposed adults, not just kids at school.

I shave when I get around to it. Don't even bother with downstairs my skin is too sensitive down there and ingrown hairs are way grosser than some fluff around the ole box. Legs usually get up to my knees and pits rarely see the light of day till summer. I do take care of them then though. Deodorant mixed with sweat isn't a comfy combination for me. But honestly I have too much of my own things to worry about if other people are shaving or not.

I shave everything because hair tends to make me get BO easily. It gets sweaty and smelly. But that's just my own body lol.

I shave everything, even my arms- but that's only because it makes me more comfortable. It also doesn't take me too much time because I shave every 2 days or so, just quickly go over everything with a razor, the only time it sucks time wise is if I take some time off lol. I don't think it's gross not to shave though, and I don't think it's unattractive, but letting it all grow is just not for me.

I shave everything because I love the feeling of freshly shaved skin and hair down there makes me sore fire some reason. It hurts.

Well i think that comes with territory, if you are the small percentage of women that don't shave then yeah you'll probably get weird looks. Because that's the norm and you will get offended because this is America lol.

It wouldn't be any different than dressing emo, or like the Hindu women covering themselves, or someone wearing traditional clothing from another part of the world. It's just different and we don't see it everyday. I would get teased at school too, not because of being hairy. But still I got teased. Hairy girls aren't the only ones.

Long hair, dint care ✋ Lol. I only shave when I feel the hair is getting too long. But I don't shave that often. And I only trim my vag hair. I prefer it very short but once in a blue moon I'll go hairless. Hubby doesn't care either way if I'm shaved or not :) Doesn't keep his hands off of me whether I'm shaved or not ??

I do laser hair removal. I'm really hairy thanks to PCOS. However, I don't care what other people do with their bodies.

Like the author I remember in high school being mercilessly teased because I didn't shave. As an adult...which we've seen on this very app, women who don't shave are called horrible names. In public I've heard the muttered statements under their breaths about my hairy armpits when I have tank tops on. It's pervasive in the American culture that women who don't shave are dirty, gross, blah blah blah.

Do I really care what people think of me? No, not really. But the constant ridiculous assumptions about people who don't shave do sting a bit...no matter how confident I am in my hairy body.

I shave pits and vag. It's personal pref to me. However my legs haven't been shaved since hmmm. Two years ago maybe? About every 8 months I'll nair to the knee. I just never cared to shave my legs. Not since I was 18.

I shave my armpits (such a gross word) because I feel more clean.

I shave my legs because if I don't, they glint in the sunlight.

I shave my cootch because I don't enjoy my pubes getting ripped out by my underwear.

I only shave my underarms. Not because I want to; but because I have to. If it wasn't for the combination of hair and deodorant irritating me; I wouldn't shave them either lol. I don't trim and I maybe, just maybe, remove the hair on my lower legs about once a year if that lol.

I personally don't get the obsession with being "smooth". But like you OP. I rarely say anything because of the stigma of being hairy or dubbed a "gorilla" because of the hair.

And guess what, my husband doesn't actually care if I shave or not. And wowsers, he's had both!

I shave or wax out of personal preference. Other peoples hair is their hair and none of my concern.

I hate shaving. It's time consuming and tedious.

I wax everything. Should my child wish to be hair free I will wax her as well. I, personally, don't like hair. I don't feel pressure from society or "the man" I just don't like it.

The only time I shave is when I feel like ok it's been about 5 months now I guess I can shave lol I don't shave every week it's rare I shave two times in a row so I really don't care if people thinks it's gross not there body I'll sit here happy with my hairy legs and pits. Plus the blades make my skin so sensitive they hurt so bad I have to sit on the toilet and have nothing touching my legs cause it will hurt!

I go a long time without shaving and only shave when I wear shorts or a short sleeve shirt. So I'm trying to understand why I would be offended or bothered but I don't get it.
