Mom's can i have your opinions please!! Am i wrong for wanting my 3 y/o to pick up after herself her toys and things she plays with? We are struggling so much to get her to put things away we almost go crazy cause she'll just start crying to avoid doing it. I dont understand she can make a whole mess but wont throw them back in ???
No my daughter just turned one and she cleans up her toys with me and put them all back inside her toy box . I sing the clean up song from Barney lol . And when she stops and just stands there pretty much watching me clean up . I hand her toys and tell her to throw them in and she does that and we continue on .
My 2 year old picks his toys up at the end of every night. He tries his hardest and it's usually just him putting them in the approximate location they go in but he loves it when I help him and we kind of make a game out of it.
@modom16 yes! I guess i will now help her do it and one way or another make it fun i needed these ideas , thankyou! I did help her before but i stopped since she knows she can do it but i dont understand why when it comes to clean it up she doesnt want to.
@arri0910, just want to add... I know you want her to do it herself, and she will one day, but I still help my 5 year old all the time. I don’t just walk around doing it for him I’m reminding him along the way of where everything goes and grabbing a few at the same time. I’ve noticed he does so much better if he feels like I’m with him and keeping him on task.
@tiffanyxbrooks uhm he has a 3 yr old girl been w him for 2 yrs she can tlk, use the potty, change her clothes, listen when we say were going to throw the toys away, has no problem throwing them away, you dont want to pick them up but throw them in the trash. I'm sure she's well aware. 🤷🏽♀️
@arri0910, it’s absolutely not wrong to expect them to clean up after themselves. That being said she is at an age where they are learning to test their parents limits as far as they can.
For most kids a “look” is not going to do ANYTHING. I agree with making it fun and helping too. Ask her to pick up 10 toys at a time and keep counting and doing that until its finished.
We start our kids out early with chores as well....my 2 year old will clean up his plate after dinner, throw his diaper away, pick up toys and put his dirty clothes in the hamper...of course he’s helped out but I think teaching them young is great and really helps them understand that everybody helps out and that’s just the way it works. All 4 of my kiddos help. My older two do dishes, sweep and mom and occasionally clean bathrooms...they also do their own laundry. My 3 year old enjoys helping and my 2 year old as well. You just have to be prompt and help them:)
Not at all my 2 year old is expected to clean up. She also has a few other chores she helps with. She takes out the bathroom trash and holds the dustpan while I sweep. She also helps pick sticks and rocks up before we mow. She has her fits when she doesn't want to and we play to get to her to pick it up. Like who ever picks up the most gets to pick the bed time story or she'll get bubbles in her bath if she pickes up before mommy starts to help.
@arri0910, aww man. I say try making into a game or race and see if that peaks her interest in it. Maybe even giving her a reward for her good job: if you help pick up all your toys we can get ice cream or whatever. Then when she completes the job give her lots of praises and “I’m proud of you” my daughter loves hearing that I’m proud of her! Makes her want to actually do things and be helpful
@tiffanyxbrooks, you can feel bad all you want my daughter is fine I can care less about your thoughts on how I raise my child you continue to raise yours and I raise mines my daughter was not born with a silver 🥄 in her mouth I think she needs to learn things on her own so she can be ahead I’m not going to be here forever so if something was to happen to me she be on it so you’re a non factor okay 👌
My thing is that im teachin her to pick up with u take out.... i make it into a game amd see who can pick up the stuff faster sometimes ans their 9 yo sissy helps them sometimes too
Heck no ur not wrong i get on my 2 yo dd abt cleaning up and she does it sometimes. (Shell b 3 next month)
@ralesshafelder yes thats also another thing im worried about what if she gets worst once our 2nd baby is born. Shes smart she understands everything but shes so stubborn
@arri0910, my opinion every child has they struggle with something just like we do we all learn a different pace and way I’m just the type of parent that don’t force certain situations like potty and talking and reading but stuff that’s simple yeah you have learn
@arri0910, no honey you’re not I’m pretty sure your child knows how to talk unlikely like my two year old she going back into baby mode cause of her baby brother I feel bad when this baby get here
@ralesshafelder Ugh I Feel Like Im Doing Something Wrong With Raising My Child . That look doesnt work with her anymore
No your not wrong my daughter is almost 3 and cleans her toys and puts her dishes in the sink and helps throw away her and her sisters pampers
@arri0910, oh no it popping time my daughter throws away her own diapers and dishes I ain’t playing and she 2 and when I make that look 👀 like I ain’t playing she go too
@lilinnocence718 this child will see me cleaning & washing dishes and she loves "washing dishes" but when it comes to picking up her toys she crys
@ralesshafelder it won't work on her! Its like she feels she has the last say
@mommie_2x yes!! Thats what i just told my husband we should start doing so she can see and know she has to pick up .
@ambersmith19932013 @jessig2006 @prestonjeanetta0120
I guess im going to have to help her do it , because a while back she would do it with me helping her but now i want her to do it herself shes really smart and she knows we've had our days already where we get mad bc she wont pick up when told to. It frustrates me so much that we (Husband & I) tell her to pick her toys which arent much since we've put them away in boxes and just left a few out for the same reason she will just make the mess but not want to pick up. So she starts crying we put her next to the toys and show her to throw them in and she just stares & it feels like shes trying to prove its her say not ours
my bf and I started throwing our kids toys away, right in front of them !
No I. Don’t play with kids sorry just give her that look 👀 like you ain’t playing pick it up my opinion
Nope, not wrong at all. My almost 3 year old didn’t like cleaning up, so I sang the clean up song and made it a race, pick up as much as you can and put it away before the song ends. She still a little stubborn sometimes but enjoys helping clean up especially when I’m cleaning.

We have our three year old pick up after himself. We also try to get out 1 1/2 yr old to clean up also but he doesn't get it yet. I also go through their toys about once a month a donate things they don't play with. It was out of control the amount of stuff they had. All I was doing was picking up stuff they threw out of the way to get to the one toy they wanted.
Try making it into a game for her. Thats how i got my son into it. Hes 4 now and he likes to help me clean.

is it wrong to be frustrated that my daughter acts like she can't do certain things with out my help. she plays dumb a lot and I wish I could be like no girl show what you know. she acts like she can't trace or match shapes so shes ask for "mommy finger" to help her so I barely hold her hand and she magically can do it but if I dont hold her hand she just scribbles and acts like she doesnt know
the pic is how she traces when I'm "helping her" otherwise it'll just be scribbles all over the page

This is what happens when a littles sister doesn't listen and goes a bit bridezilla. She wants all her sisters to wear the same thing for her wedding in a few weeks. I told her "I can wear something as similar as I can make it, but being pregnant I can't wear the same exact thing. It just won't work". Then she settled on a denim shirt dress. Cute, but wouldn't work on me normally, let alone pregnant (I'm pretty tall). She said she'd just femme a bigger size to fit over the tummy. I told her the ...

Her helmet she got so she can be safe (as she told me) when she rides her bike and scooter lol
I need help with my dog!
She got off her chain today and when she came back she had a huge gash on her inner thigh of her back leg. It is bloody and super gross. You can see the meat in her thigh. Nobody can get her in tonight and the places that can first thing tomorrow want like $1000. I don’t have that kind of money, at all! What can I do for her?
