Anyone else frustrated
About people and their opinions about what you plan on naming your baby(s)?
This is exactly why we aren't telling anyone our babies name until he's born. We don't need anyone else's opinions about our name choices.
I just decided that I'm not going to listen to anyone's input and suggestions even if we announce the name before he or she is born.
We will be happy with whatever name we choose. Lol
Pp, I love the name max!
I don’t understand why everyone has to put their two cents in about names. It’s not their friggin kid!! I was trying to talk names with my parents and my mom was putting down all the ones I like (not even in a gentle way but went as far as saying one sounded like a w**** - really??!!) and then my dad kept offering names he thought I should pick. My husband had a friend texting him what we should name our kid. Ugh! So we decided we aren’t telling anyone the name, I’m done discussing it with people. So annoying!! I don’t blame you one bit for how you’re feeling.
That's super frustrating! For the record I think Nadia is a beautiful name ?
For our first it was my husband's name so everyone was good with the name. With our 2nd, we told people the name we liked and everything was ok until we told my mother in law. The name was Max, it was obviously a boy, and she kept saying "Maxi"...i was like oh hell no! I think she even said something about Maxi Pad, I was hella mad and we changed the name. We stuck with Max until he was born and then announced the name we chose. For our 3rd, we didn't tell anyone and I'm not planning on telling anyone the names we chose. I've discussed names with my BestFriend and she keeps giving me suggestion and tells me she doesn't like the names I chose. I'm not gonna tell anyone else and we are just gonna wait til the baby is born. I hate how people give their opinions like it's their child.
Quite frankly, this is the reason why we aren't announcing our daughter's name until birth. Your child, your decision on the name.
@oli, she knows it's between Nadia and ayah and the middle names as well but she won't stop. I've told her nicely atleast a dozen times no to her names lol but I finally got fed up lol.
It's her comments that bother me. She knows Rose (my moms birth flower) and Janine (moms first name) are very important to me. And all she can say is dawn is better and that they're not middle names and then shoves her middle and my grandmas middle name Margaret on me.
It'll either be
Nadia Rose or ayah Janine for the name.
She's just very pushy and I had to push right back lol. I was nice and declined every suggestion and reminded her a dozen times no, one of these will be the name but she's stubborn. ??♀️?
I told my MIL our names and she started making new suggestions and I just had to say nicely “those are the names for sure and we love them” and she backed off with her suggestions. I would just tell her you already picked a name so she’ll stop with her suggestions.
Sorry you're dealing with unwanted opinions too.
I wish we hadn't told my parents our name choice. My friends have all been really nice about our name choice luckily, but my parents and one brother all started suggesting other names.
My husband said if they want to pick names they should have more kids lol
In a srange way its how some people show they “care”!! Giving advice when it’s not needed. We decided to announce this bubs name at birth to save any potential unwanted opinions.
Lol. Seriously, she keeps pushing my grandmas middle name on me and says that Rose and Janine aren't middle names. I understand she's my grandma and she's passed but I want something for my mom.
She doesn't have children so her pets are like her children lol. Her being so pushy was annoying so I had to put a stop to it. It worked because she never texted back which is not like her at all lol. I think I hurt her feelings but her telling me that my moms first name or her birth month flower aren't middle names struck a nerve with me. Shut it already. Lol
The part that got me laughing so hard was “ name one of your pets that” ????
lol it's like people want to have their name through the names of others or something. It's quite annoying! Lol
Yes!!! I have a friend who keeps texting my girl names even though I’ve told her we are dead set on our girl name.
I had issues like this with my first also. It's always my side of the family too. Lol.
I don't think any of my children have bad names and they're easy to pronounce also.
My aunt didn't even know my second sons name was Arabic until I told her. And once I told her her demeanor changed and questioned me on why I name my children Arabic first names. It's because I want all my children that way lol plus dh is Arabic so it just makes sense.
Thanks for letting me vent out my frustration lol. She was really bothering last night with her opinions.
I had this issue with my first born. I told an aunt the name and she looked at my mom and said 'is she serious??" And my grandmother said Max sounds like the dog's name. She proceeded to recommend some names and I politely said "Granny, he already has a name"
name your baby what you wish
I didn’t have anyone say anything about my daughters name 4 years ago but this time around we’ve decided that we aren’t telling names til baby is born. We are in the fence about a few different ones anyway and I’m not sure I gonna be set on a name until baby is born.
My auntie reacted weird when I told her the name I've chosen. Her reaction was "oh.. don't you like Alfie or Freddie?" As if the name I've chosen isn't good. I was really upset about it at first but now I realise he's my baby and I can call him whatever I want! She has no say in it whatsoever so her opinion is invalid ?
This is exactly why I'm not telling anyone the name until baby is here, lol. I've learned my lesson in the past.
It's just frustrating. I thought she would be the last person trying to do that lol. Guess not. ??
She loves mythology names and goddess names but those aren't my style. It's getting on my nerves.
Pp, thank you! I love the name Nadia but with our last name it sounds kinda odd lol.
I know this doesn’t go along with your rant but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Nadia ??
I have that same feeling! My Aunts are upset because I named my baby Desmond Brian. His first name comes from his dad's name. His middle name is special to me because in the last six years I've actually lost TWO cousins named Brian. Both of whom I love dearly and want to honor them. My great aunt (Brian's mom) was so excited and grateful, so idk what other people have a problem with? I've even had an aunt go as far as saying she didn't like it because evidently Brian's in our family don't live past 40! I am ready for Thanksgiving so I can let them all know in one shot that I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION. IF YOU DON'T CARE FOR WHAT I NAMED HIM, YOU'RE MORE THAN WELCOME TO JUST CALL HIM DJ!!!!!!
This is why i typically dont share baby names till baby is born. My mom seriously acted disgusted by names i chose for my daughter she was like well ill just call the baby something else. Are you kidding me? My sister really likes those super trendy hipster kind of names which are adorable but im not in to those names. Sooo we announce names when we announce baby then no one has an opinion because at that point its really friggin rude. ?

Well I was about to go to bed...and then I get stung by this thing.
School fees
Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".
Hello ! im Helena 😗
im from Kiev, i wanna take new friends and take experience about care about child

Feeling scared about this
We don't even decide on names until we meet the baby. Both my boys were named days after they were born. I want to see them and then make the decision that will be with them forever. I announce after I have decided and it's on the birth certificate. Then no one can say anything.
