I'm going to be petty for a moment

My neighbor across the street is not very stable and has 3 children..

You should give to be kind not to get a thank you.

Use a ziplock bag next time. If I were you, I wouldn't even offer anymore

Maybe because our Tupperware isn't as expensive( don't know if expensive ones are a thing?) but I wouldn't be so mad about that. I would've just given a really old one and not even asked for it back.

Never loan something you really like because not everyone takes care of things well. I definitely would've been annoyed with the the fact she didn't even say thank you though, that's rude but not the biggest deal honestly but I guess I would've have to been there to know how rude she acted

Really? ???

Of course I did it out of kindness! Not a pat on the back!! I'm always kind so yes it irked me when I didn't get a thank you. It's called "manners"

I do a lot of good deeds and with those don't expect a please or thank you.. But my neighbor on the other hand? Yes! We aren't strangers. Her kids play with mine almost everyday. She comes over a few times a week to chat with me.

And yes, she could've told me she broke it out of kindness and offered to pay me back. Which I would've declined anyways. But isn't it the thought that counts?

Pp, yes it was real Tupperware. It's in the dumpster and I didn't know they had a lifetime warranty. Thanks for letting me know ?

Sometimes people on here amaze me. She wasn't asking for a flipping award. She already said it sounded kind of petty. Point is, when someone does something nice for you, the least you could do is showing your appreciation by using a simple thank you and return the dish washed or at least rinsed. It isn't that big of a deal that the tupperware is broken, it is that the lady showed not even the slightest of appreciation and then proceeded to bring something back broken and not even acknowledge it. Unfortunately OP not everyone was taight basic manners. It was nice what you did and if she is truly hurting financially and you can afford to have them over for dinner or send leftovers her way every now and then I still would. As pp said, use old cottage cheese/yogurt type containers or ask if she has a container to take some home because you're running out of tupperware. Lord knows, I buy a new thing of tupperware like once a month because it manages to go.missing.

???

Being poor doesn't excuse poor manners. Plain and simple. You say please and thank you, you return dishes clean and unbroken. Nothing hard about that. The neighbor sounds like she thinks she's entitled to free offerings, I'd show her otherwise.

Get over it

You should've put in a big ziplock lol. I would be upset too

So you give your neighbor who has no money some food. Then get pissed because your Tupperware is cracked, and she didn't offer to give you money? If she can't buy food how is she going to buy you new Tupperware? Most people who help feed the needy do so from the kindness of their hearts, not to win neighbor of the year award.

This is why I Never give out my Tupperware butter containers for everyone!

I know how you feel. We used to do things like this all the time for my sister in law and was never shown an ounce of gratitude. After a while you just don't want to help people that feel so entitled they don't need to even give a thank you.

I think if you're going to do something out of the kindness of your heart you shouldn't complain about how rude she is. Did you feed her and her family because you cared and we're sympathetic to their needs or did you want a pat on the back? Truth is it would have made you feel better to have gotten a please and thank you. It probably would have motivated you more but isn't it better to give than to recieve? I'm sorry. I'm really not trying to be rude at all to you. I just think it just kind of tarnishes your good deed when you complain about how the other person received your gift. I think you're an awesome person for reaching out to a family who was obviously in need and I think you should keep your cheerful heart regardless of how she treated your kindness. As far as your dish goes, that's kind of your fault and lesson learned. Next time ask her to bring her own dish.

If she really is in need and struggling, I would still offer her food. I would strongly tell her that if she wants some, she'll have to bring her own container bc that last one she brought back was broken, you threw it out, and waiting to get a replacement.

Is it actual Tupperware brand? They have a lifetime warranty. I hope you didn't throw it away ?

@seren, "the old yogurt container", ???, spoken like a true Arab mama.

I'm going to start saving those tubs but she's not getting anything from me anymore unless it's on a paper plate ??

No way I'm sending my Tupperware with anybody.

They can leave with the old cool whipped bowl or butter bowl. Tuhhh

People can be really ungrateful.

It's actually disappointing to me. ?

Нравится Ответить

Argentina, I haven't had that problem yet.. ?

Нравится Ответить

Nes, I wish that was the case but she was over sitting in my house for about an hr talking about her kids. Even when she brought the bowl back.. I still got nothing polite. Lol

Say whaaat?! That's so messed up! ?

That sucks. I hate when people do things like that. You know what irks me as well? When people come over and go crazy with toilet tissue. I had a cousin come over and used up a whole brand new toilet tissue roll just to clean up a little mess she made in the bathroom. Like she couldn't even rip off a piece of the tissue to use it properly, she just cleaned the mess down with the entire roll. I seriously wanted to cry. People need to wipe their a**es with that, not have it thrown away because a corner of the roll got wet.

Maybe she was hungry but wasn't in the mood to talk.

Recently my sister called me and said she made too much fried rice and if I wanted some. I said sure so she brought it to me (we live across the street from eachother) and my neighbor was outside so she thought she would take it upon herself to tell him she was bringing me food because I never cook. Btch what?! Sorry op, I just had to get that out and this reminded me of it ??

? I've learned my lesson.

Karen, I agree.

Serena, I did throw it away. Lol I had no choice with all the cracks in it. She won't be getting anymore food from me.
