I probably wouldn't have put him in timeout. He's being taught to handle his problems that way, so he wasn't "misbehaving", this was a case of mistaken behavior because he didn't know behaving that way was wrong/mean. I think you did great by getting down on his level and explaining WHY he shouldn't act that way and say/do those things. If he would have done it again I would have done the EXACT same thing you did this time. Explain what he did wrong and put him in timeout.

My cousin and I super close like sisters so I try to handle situations like she would but she's a spanker and that's my LAST resort with my kids. I've only spanked my oldest like twice on his life but I still wouldn't call it a spank though.
If I have any other problems she actually works from home so I can just go get her. ?
That's really sad that a child is talking like that. It's such a horrible thing to think, especially so young. Why would anyone want to teach their children to hate like that.
That little boy is going to say it to the wrong person one time and could potentially get really hurt. I'm sorry that you had to deal with that today. I honestly wouldn't be able to be around a child like that. So kudos to you Hun. Big hugs ❤️
I think he might've just heard it and said where he thought it would fit.. I try not to sit for my cousin unless she really needs me. I'm okay with teaching him that it's not okay to say things like that. I feel he just needs better direction. His parents are always busy. He's not potty trained and is just a chaotic little child lol. I've never seen a 3 year old be as crazy as him so I know I have my work cut out when I sit for my cousin ? lol
