Ehenzon, I'm wondering why you are saying "horrible" America, when I never said anything about American health care. I also never spoke highly of Canada's system, I'm just glad I don't need to pay 500$ a month just to have the opportunity to be seen by a doctor. And 20-40$ for a regular doctors visit!
We have medcost/healthgram. We pay $98 a week for our family of 4. It stays the same no matter how many children we have. But when we added me it went from $25 per week to the $98. We only have a $25 copay for sick visits and everything is covered either 100 or 90%. Except chiropractic is only 50%. $300 deductible. And pretty much all prescriptions are free.
@hayl
That's explains it with the high er trips and it's understandable.
Guess I have no choice lol
I work at an ER, & know that Aetna is still very much around. Assurant may not be though. Also, pretty much all insurances raised the copays on ER visits because so many people use it as a doctors office. So they're trying to encourage people to go to their primary doctor or a walk in clinic/urgent care because it's much cheaper then an ER. That's why you're seeing a $500 copay for the ER. I'd say the average copay for the ER with commercial insurance is $150-$250. I have insurance through our hospital & I still have a $250 copay for the ER. I pay about $80 a month for just me; when LO gets here, I'll pay about double that.
We have BC/BS Federal. I pay $130 a pay period. No deductible, $25 copayment for office visits, $175 hospital/surgeries.
Yes I realized that! I was looking for insurance plans for my so and I got a headache just looking through them.
I'm covered for 2 more years and boy am I glad he was able to get such an amazing plan.
I'm under my dads plan. His work pays for it. It's blue shield $5 copays and $100 for hospital visits.
@raising
That's how much it is for insurance WITH my dh.. I don't understand why it went up such a drastic amount by adding another adult..
It's frustrating because I don't feel like I need to pay that much for insurance when I'm not going to go to the doc or hospital often.
We have Cigna. We pay $500/monthly for our family of four. Our co pays are $40 unless it's a specialist, then it's $60.
ER visit $500
Our deductible is $1500 I believe.
I'm NOT looking forward to pay so much for insurance ?
A quote for me and my boys was like 30$ a month but 500$ for an er visit.
Thanks ladies for all your replies!
We have aetna. We haven't paid a dime for copayments when I go to my obgyn. Regular doctor visits are $40 each. We pay $200 a month.
We have Blue Cross Blue Shield. Not sure what we pay a month because Dh's work pays most of it and the rest comes out of his check before we even get it so we don't even count for it. $2,000 deductible, $35 copay for general, $50 for specialist, and $0 copay for ER.
To add in the military if you go to your primary, and then get a referral to a therapist and they can say you have serious "health" issues with small boobs or whatever the military will pay for your surgery for a boob job. Many dependents do it and it's baloney..
That sucks pp..
Oh well to answer the question my health care is through Tricare and it's free for primary care like check ups and maternity and all that, only thing I would pay for is dentist and optometry which is 20/80. Best perk of the military.
It's like that in Canada because everyone is able to get health care, so there's more people to treat, so longer wait times. It sucks but atleast you don't have to pay outrageous amounts of money for medical help. We do have health plans and stuff you can pay for here too.
Serious question: why do Canadians talk so highly of their health care system? Sure it's "free" through high taxes but there are "wait times". & that sucks! My friend in Vancouver had a brain tumor and waited ONE MONTH for an MRI. Canada ranks 11 in longest wait to see their health care provider. And "horrible" America ranked 2
Facts.
I have coventry bronze for dh and dd and myself.
It's 491 monthly
5k per person deductible. Yuck.
Tricare Reserve Select. We pay 211 a month for family. 100$ family deductible. I'm also on my mom's insurance which is bcbs gold plan and my dad's which is United healthcare. They both pay for family and it doesn't change if they take me off. So since they can keep me on until I'm 26 they just decided to keep me on. (Parents are divorced, and they have to have my brother on insurance because he is disabled)
I have united healthcare with my employer for the kids and I. I pay 230 each paycheck(2x a month). 15$ urgent care and doctor visits - unless it's my annual or check ups for the boys then it's free.
5,000 deductible.
I have united healthcare through my job. Its free so I have no complaints. I pay $15 for copays I have a zero dollar deductible so that's awesome .
My DH has him and our son on blue cross and blue shield through his job it's $75 a week for them they have $15 copays.
OP, if I understand correctly Aetna no longer exists. I had assurant through Aetna and had to switch as of Jan 1. I got the blue cross gold plan ppo and just tried taking dd to the dr today only to find out they don't accept this plan. Fml
Hubby has blue and gold health net. $150 per check but we only pay $15 co pay for office visits and urgent care. Annuals are all free. Hospital stay we pay $200. Our deductible is $1500 for all of us together for the year. Drugs are also included at $0-$5 each prescription depending what it is.
Dh used to have Aetna through his employer too and was fully paid for but with all this new enrollment stuff I'm confused because the insurance expired since he no longer works there.
We have highmark bcbs through my husbands work. $40 per week (some of that goes to our other plans). $300 individual deductible, like $1,000 family. $20 copays, all routine/preventative care is fully covered.
We have Aetna. Policy is 100% is paid by my husbands employer. We haven't had any issues yet. We have a $300 deductible per person, $1000 for family. Copays are $25 or $35 for a specialist.
I have Kaiser for me and my son. I don't have a deductible, and my co pays are $40 (they were $25 until December 1st). I think I pay $80 per check.
SO has Blue Cross Blue Shield through his employer. It's $28 from each paycheck (2x a month). It's 40/60 coverage, and covers him, me and our son. I'm not 100% what the deductible is. His place of employment has a wellness center on site that's free for employees and their families, so we go there.
Right now its tricare standard (think that is the one?) Totally free on base. But in a few weeks that will be going away lol
Dh's new job we will have BC/BS federal I think? He will work for the city so I'm not sure if I'm correct on that.
We will be paying $280/month for me, dh, dd, and ss.
It is really stupid because we really can't afford that right now but we don't want to be fined.
