Any Georgia moms on here?
Is the economy good there? We own a couple of businesses here in Oklahoma but only one would be able to move with us lol.
I don't want to live far away from hospitals and stores. I'm not very country oriented lol. Maybe in suburbs would suit my family best.
Next summer I really want to visit Georgia and see what all is out there.

@queen, my best friend just upped and moved to Florida and she's lived in Oklahoma her entire life. I'll be closer to her ❤️
@chelsee moving where you know not a single soul can be overwhelming, but it's so exhilarating! It definitely shows you what you're made of. I lived in Florida for a long time, made the leap to South Carolina in 2012 for a job where I knew no one and moved into an apartment sight unseen, and then I moved to GA last year! It's been a fun few years.
I'm in Dalton. Just moved here a year ago. I like it better than Ohio that's for sure but not much to do around here. But Chattanooga is 45 mins away, Atlanta is like an hour away, and Gatlinburg is 3 hours. So plenty of road trip possiblilites
I don't live in GA, but my entire family is from Moultrie, Valdosta, and Pavo. It's not a bustling metropolis, but I had tons of fun going to visit every weekend or so.
@mw, wow!! Thank you for all that!!
I REALLY want to but moving to somewhere where I know nothing is a little scary lol. It's just so beautiful there! Okc is nice but I want to move.. Lived here all my life so I've seen everything and done everything lol.
I have lived in Kennesaw and really loved it, but it is so crowded now with Kennesaw State. Lake Alatoona is a family favorite to visit. It's gorgeous! My family then moved in the Paulding County area- I wouldn't recommend it (no nice schools except when heading towards a small town called Bremen City- top 3 school system in GA). Literally NOTHING to do unless you go to Atl 45 mins away (unless you love things like deer hunting, mud bogging, etc. very "redneck" but the people are nice. My best friend lives in Woodstock and loves it- definitely suburbia, but has nice schools. I currently have been living in Athens for 8 years (started in college so I did the bar hop scene back in my younger days) and just bought into the Athens "suburbs" in Oconee County which has one of the top school systems in the state. Can be expensive to live in this area/ certain areas of Athens are known for poverty/ crime but is SO family friendly and so many people from different backgrounds/ ways of life drawn by UGA/ the unique feel of Athens. So many good restaurants, a historic downtown area, many parks (for dogs and kids), tons of local farmers markets/ unique shops and boutiques, arts, music (big here- Ath Fest is so much fun), plays, the Twilight Bike Race (professional race where people come to battle from all over the world. It's so cool), ballets - literally if it comes to Atlanta it usually comes here too and you can go watch it in the classic center. So much more to this town than the bars/ football (though I enjoy those too- especially the craft beer companies- people bring their kids/ dogs to those places all the time). I can't wait to raise our son here.
I live in south GA, and I would not recommend it! Haha no, but everytime we visit north GA, or on the coast, I don't wanna go home. The mountains up north are gorgeous, and the beach is just stunning.
Athens here! ????
I like it for the most part. It's a big college town. University of Georgia is like 10 minutes away from my house. Downtown is really fun especially if you like to bar hop. ??
I'm moving to Hiawassee, Georgia in about 2 months. I've never been there but I sure am excited!!!
Lol I'll have to look into Brunswick!
Thanks Karen! I'm still wanting to move but it'll probably be a few years ? lol
Decatur used to be bad, but they've been working hard of revamping Decatur and has been nice for a few years!
@hiighest
I'm in Oklahoma and been here my entire life. Lol heat is no problem with me. Oklahoma weather is bipolar. One day could be 70 degrees in winter and the next day have a damn ice storm lol
I will look into lawrenceville (sp?) also! Thanks!
Lawrenceville is really nice it's where I live . I live 15 min from the square and they do the most amazing things for xma a, it's gorgeous . It's hot down here though. Not unbearable but if you're from up north it'll be a transition
Someone I used to work with was from peach tree and she loved it! Loved her little accent too! Lol
I personally love Atlanta by the way. Of course there are dangerous areas (mostly just south of the actual city) but that's everywhere. Atlanta has tons of music, unique restaurants, street festivals, art, and nice parks. Most traffic problems will result if you live in one of the many suburbs that are within 30 minutes of the city and are trying to commute to/ from the city during rush hour. Cobb and Fayette county have some of the best schools in the state. There is a city called Peachtree City that is a "golf cart" town (this is where I grew up) and you can get anywhere in the city on a golf cart via beautiful paths through the woods, which is awesome!! Another bonus is the weather--- some people complain about the heat, but in summer there are SO many beautiful rivers and lakes to cool off in ;)
I live in Gainesville(hall county) I use to stay in Lilburn & Norcross (Gwinnett county) I miss it there. Stay away from Atlanta, stone mountain, Decatur, Lithonia basically Dekalb county lol. It's cheaper in those areas but not safe.
I live in McDonough!
I've been in GA for 2.5years now. Originally moved from NJ.
We're thinking before dd starts school, we might move around Dahlonega or Gainseville.
Dh's dad is trying to get us to move to Guyton, which is right beside Savannah but I'd rather move up north near the mountains in GA!
I live in Dacula, GA (Gwinnett County). We love it here. It's small town and the schools are great.
No go on the Atlanta. I've found the more south you go the more iffy it gets. I would stay in the metro Atlanta area (pretty much the suburbs 30-45 min north of Atlanta). The more south you go, the more expensive it is. If you stay North the price of housing is cheaper.
I grew up in South Florida and moved here when I was 15. It was a culture shock for sure but I can't imagine raising my kids anywhere else!
Despite the crime rate I still loved it and miss it all the time! Savannah is so beautiful. We were military but bought a house off post. We lived in Augusta too at one point and I'm not a fan but that's because I had a very bad experience. We are now back in our home state of Iowa and with winter coming I especially start to miss our Savannah home lol.
It's not bad really. It's really pretty and your close to the coast. But I live in Valdosta and can't wait to leave. The crime rate has risen since we moved here here 3 years ago.
Augusta is the second biggest city I thought.
I've visited Savannah and it's nice and they have beaches. It's not as urban (guess that's the word) as Atlanta . People from Atl call Savannah the country & the traffic in Atl is horrrrrible
Yeah Atlanta's traffic is awful! There's really nice places to live and there's some really rough places too though. You'd just have to research the area good and check out the schools. I'm not sure what areas are good though and what's not, maybe someone else here knows better.
Atlanta is insane. Horrible traffic, expensive housing, unsafe in most areas. Not my cup of tea.
@Mommy no that would probably be Atlanta. Most people would say Augusta was small honestly. I've always lived in such a small town that what's small to most is still big to me lol
My first daughter I gave up for adoption lives in snellville sp? I'm sad to say I've never been to Georgia.
@MommyNes it's fairly big to me but I'm from a one red light town ??. I'm only about an hour or so from Augusta.
We lived in Savannah for 5 years and loved it. But the crime rate is pretty high... We lived near Richmond Hill which was a little nicer but still close to Savannah and the beach.
Marietta is a nice place. I was stationed there when I was in the Navy. They close the whole town down for less than an inch of snow, though. ??
Georgia here.
I like like 10 minutes from you brittneymargaret. Paulding/Cobb
Anyway I love GA. if I ever leave, I'll go to North Carolina.
Look into kennesaw and Marietta. Very nice places :)
Oh yay! ?? lol @for the Donald trump.. Dh is Arabic ? lol
I'm def going to be looking at all the places mentioned by y'all!
Thanks! I appreciate it!!
I live in Augusta/Grovetown area! It's pretty nice. It's a military town so there are constantly people coming and going. I'd say it's pretty affordable! I'm from CA so pretty much anything is affordable compared to out there lol
I grew up in Georgia all my life. It's a beautiful place with tons of nice people, but then you also get the confederate flag waving Donald trump supporters too ?
I plan on moving there before my LO starts school. Next 1-3 years down the road. To Savannah or the burbs thereof.
I Live in Warner Robins, it's not bad. Quiet, nice people and cheap living. WR is about 15 minutes from Macon which is supposed to be one of the worst cities to live in the us. I lived there for about 10 years and I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
I don't live there but my dad does and we visited for a week this past summer. He lives in Richmond Hill, which is near Savannah. It was so nice! I know he loves it there, he's been there for 8 years now. I would consider moving there if we were looking to move.
I live in Pembroke which is right out if Savannah. It's pretty affordable, mostly. Right inside Savannah it can get really expensive though, whether you live in a nice part or the wrong side o.o there's been ALOT of crime (shootings, robberies, gang activity) but if you live on the outskirts like Guyton rincon pooler Pembroke etc it's pretty safe.
?? I live in the suburbs of Atlanta (Gwinnett County). It's very family oriented, if that's what you are looking for with great things to do as well as some great opportunities.
Somewhere near savannah? I'm not sure where the cities are at like eastern or western.. Dh used to live near stone mountain when he was younger and he said it's really beautiful..
I think we will just have to take a road trip so I can see for myself! Lol
I'm soooo ready for a change of scenery! Ready to get out of Oklahoma even though I grew up here lol
Thanks ladies!
The people are nice, most of the time. It is VERY affordable in most places. Some good places are Kennesaw and Acworth.
ETA: I live in Cartersville, it's pretty boring right now, but the hunger games theme park is supposedly coming here, so I guess we will stay and sell our house when it opens. ?
Any Georgia moms?
It's really time to leave Georgia. ✈ ✈ ✈

The economy isn't too bad here! There's a good bit to do where I live, and I live about 10 minutes away from my OBGYN and the hospital I'm delivering at.
