@nyce thank you for the advice! It's def hard for me to discuss everything with her because I don't want her to feel like she's dying because she's still living..

I can't imagine your pain! That's the worst pain and heartbreak a person can feel is what you had and are still going through! I only wish best wishes and positiveness for you and your family!!!

@missydenny

I've talked with her about what she wants and she said she never told my dad that she wanted to be cremated so I'm really upset with my dad!!! She said she's going to write down everything she wants and her wishes for me because my dad isn't trustworthy which is sad! I'm going to try my best to give her what she wants and deserves!

I am so sorry your having to go threw this ** hugs** my heart is breaking for you :( talk to your mommy like others have said and hear what she wants to do for her funeral for yourself and your heart ** hugs** and make sure her wishes get honored .. If she wishes to be cremated you can buy a locket and place some of her ashes or hair in it that way you will be able to be close to her no matter what .. I know it sounds morbid .. But it helps you grieve.. My friends dad passed unexpectedly last year and was offered a clay tablet with his thumbprint on it and she is Soo glad she has it now.. I am so sorry you and your family are going threw this sweetie we are all hear for you and thinking about you and praying for you and your family and we are all hear for you if you need to talk

I didnt say my friend had a year to prepare for her moms death

Im sorry you have to go through this. But my friend lost her mom about 5 days before my son passed. it was easier for her because she had time to prepare. It was very traumatic for me because my sons death was unexpected. So please take this time to find a good funeral home. ask your mom what she would like to wear. Take pictures , laugh & try to keep her happy. If you believe in Christ make sure her heart is right! Make sure all her health insurance documents are in order as well! Be prepared for people to be in your house, people stole from my husband and i the day my son died, so don't be too naive (trust me when things like this happen we tend to think everyone is as hurt as we are but it just isnt true) ask her what she wants her obituary to say . im sorry this may be hard but after going through my sons death and burial it was so hard on my husband and i. Everything happens so fast, its not easy but you will make it hun.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I wish there were words to make you and your family feel better. But I know there isn't. My mom has brain cancer as well and it is honestly the hardest thing I've had to learn to 'cope' with... We found out about eight years ago because she had a seizure which was cause by the baseball sized tumor on the front left side of her brain. She had immediate surgery to take out what they could but they estimated it would be back full blown the same size 7years later. Which was completely accurate because 7 years later we were dealing with it all over again but this time they had no fix and literally gave her 2 years to live but possibly 3-6 if chemotherapy helped it at all.

I've been trying to find a way to learn how to accept the fact my mom was not going to be here. But there really isn't a way to prepare yourself for that sadness.

I'm very sorry your mom was given the dreadful last few months I can't even imagine having to prepare for that. Just enjoy all the memories you have and all the memories that you can squeeze in between now and then. :(

I will pray for her and all of your family! Hopefully she can prove the doctors wrong ?

Aww that melts my heart that your 6 year old said that! What a sweetheart. My nonna had a very hard time with my aunt being cremated. They buried her ashes and her husband's ashes are beside her. They have a headstone and had a full service. You've been on my mind a lot today. I'm not a praying woman, but I've sent a few good thoughts your way. It brings tears to my eyes even thinking about losing my mom. Be strong mama!

Today I talked with my dad about funeral arrangements and he already discussed it with my mom. She wants to be cremated which I don't like.. I just want her to be buried but it is whatever she wants!

I'm trying my best to act strong but sometimes I just cry and cry which I know is okay I just hate when my kids see me so upset! My 6yr old understands and is always there comforting me. If I cry in the car or anywhere where he can see. He tells me "she will feel better soon mommy it's okay" he makes me feel 100xs better. I'm already grieving and mourning her.

Thank you wonderful amazing ladies for your kind words!

Sadly i have been through it too. My mom passed away with cancer when I was 16. I had to put together her funeral because my dad was out of sorts so was my grandma and my brother was younger. It is difficult so like previous poster said even though it is overwhelming prepare now, talk to your mom. It sounds so weird but it actually helps you grieve knowing you are following your loved one's wishes. This will sound cliche but it is so true. Allow yourself to grieve dont feel like you need to be the strong one all the time and unfortunately or fortunately time does ease the pain. I say unfortunately because the time is also bitter to pass sometimes. If you need anything i am available and again so sorry you have to go through this.

Thank you so much! I've never had to do this and the last funeral I really needed to go to was my grandmas and that was almost 10 yrs ago.

I appreciate you all!

I completely understand how you feel. My dad (50) was taken from us very quickly by cancer 2 weeks before i found out i was pregnant with my youngest. Its hard and extremely stressful. Your kid (s) will help you push through. As for planning just keep her in mind for what she would want.

Oh my goodness ? this pains my Heart so much for you. I don't know much on planning the funeral. I know it happens within a few days after she passes and the funeral home and hospital should walk you through everything you have to do. I am praying for you and I am so sorry that you are going through this. I cannot imagine what you must be feeling.

I am so sorry I know exactly what you are going through my mother passed away when I was 17...First thing I think you should do is talk to your mom and ask what type of burial she prefers maybe she wants cremation... And then have a family meeting maybe some aunts or uncles can help you sort it all out.. and again I am very sorry your going through this

? I'm so sorry, I can't even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you. When my grandma passed away she had almost everything set up already, so I can't tell you much about starting the process, but they have coordinators at cemeteries who can guide you through everything. You'll just end up making a lot of choices between different options. And I'm sorry to say that but be prepared to spend a lot of money ?.....it's good that you're thinking ahead, as hard as it is. Hang in there! We're here for support!

I'm sorry to hear. I had to go through this with my mom. My advice is look up online and get an idea of what you want and then call funeral homes now. Get quotes and write down what it includes. I found a difference of like $10000 from the highest to the lowest. The pricier ones were from high end places which we didn't want or need. I was able to take my time and decide on who to go with. When she passes, you don't have a lot of time to act and you'll be busy and overwhelmed dealing with that. If you wait till it happens, you may end up going with the first place you call which may not be the best for you. The directors were all very nice and they all called me back quickly even when I was just getting quotes.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can't imagine. My mother just had to plan 2 funerals. Her only sister and 4 months later her sister's husband. I won't lie to you. It was rough, but time heals. The funeral home was very helpful and walked her through everything. She had no clue where to even begin. One thing that really helped was her making a collage of photos throughout the whole process that was displayed at their funerals. It helped her remember good times and took her mind off of the stress of it. Again, I'm so sorry you're going through this.
