Help! So I'm having a hard time getting my newborn to sleep in her crib. I'm even tried letting her cry it out. But what about if it's causing parents to loose sleep at night. My fiancee works and drives long distance and I need my sleep! The only thing that solves problems is cosleeping. Should I be strict with her now or wait till she is a certain age?? And if so what age?

How old is she?? I wouldn’t let her cry anything out if she’s under 6 months. She is communicating w you. She may be gassy. Are you breast feeding

I say do wat u gotta do ....whatever feels necessary. Me personally i cosleep. I'll break her out the habit when she and i are ready

Btw having a newborn def means lots of sleepless nights. I know it’s rough but honestly, it goes by so fast. I have two. My first was pretty easy but my second was much more difficult and I was constantly exhausted going off of 2 hrs of sleep a night.

@phoebesmommy I'm breastfeeding, she is 3 weeks. Lol I only tend to let her cry it out for 10 min. Testing the waters I should say! Lol And then I check her diaper occasionally and temp and what not. I kinda compromise with that sort of thing. I don't wanna neglect her. Lol

@jane.austen64, its much too soon to let her cry it out even for 10 minutes. When sleep training a 6 month + you start at 10 minutes. Can't stress that enough. Does she like being swaddled? My infants loved routine, warm bath, lotion, pjs, bottle, lights always dim or off. If co-sleeping is what it takes I've never done it but know its very beneficial for soo many!

@jane.austen64, I also agree on not letting her cry it out!! She needs you!! She still a newborn!!! that’s why she cry’s, she might be hungry, feel alone, or has gas. I know it’s exhausting because you don’t get the sleep you used get but time will fly by soon.

Girl dont let your newborn cry it out. Shes way to young. Theirs going to be a lot of sleepless nights, thats just the thing about becoming a parent. Your needs dont reach over theirs. Some tips is try and get her on a schedule, of coarse always feed on demand But lets say playtime after she gets up during the day like tummy time, baby massage ect. Then before bed nice bath, lotion, cuddles, even read to her ect. These days will pass hun, i know your tired and frustrated but i promise you, one day when this is just a memory, your going to miss it

Thanks everyone! I definitely don't ignore her needs. I'm just worried about spoiling her at this age with sleelint and later when she gets older it will gets worse. and if I do whatever she wants to get my sleep. For example Co sleeping, sleeping in the swing and whatnot. I'm afraid she won't ever sleep in that crib. Is it completely normal for them not to sleep in the crib right away and if they do what age should I start being more strict with sleep routine and routine in general. @hollyn216 6 months correct?

Jane I trained my boys to sleep the night by about 3 months. There are little things you can do early on to help your son along. I have two sleep training videos. They both are healthy kids and slept 7-7 straight.

@jane.austen64, I completely understand your worries of the future! I was the same! I promise it'll all work out. My girls started in a bassinet right next to my bed, swaddled, they really loved that. Probably up every 3-4 hours. That time will grow quickly! Promise!! By 9-10 weeks both of my girls slept through the night. If you dont want to cosleep stick with your guns. She might just need to be rocked back to
Sleep if its not bottle &/or diaper time :) I didn't transition to crib until 5-6 months, and sleep trained around 7-8 months via controlled cry out method. Lots of articles online to guide you through that stage 💗 both of my gals (5 & 3) have always slept in their own bed and we all love it.

Can't be spoiled at newborn stage. Cosleeping is fine as long as you take precautions. They're used to being touched and with you always in the womb so when they get outside it can be scary with out you.

- Don’t let her cry it out. She’s a newborn and is trying to communicate. Think of it like this, you are all she’s known. She’s heard your heartbeat every second of the day since she developed ears. All she knows is your smell, and sound. Being a mom means never sleeping good again 😅 but it’s totally worth it. My son sleeps on my chest. I’ve got all the fancy things for baby’s, he doesn’t sleep in any of them. He’s only a baby once. Once he’s one, and I’m done breastfeeding, then I’ll try to use his crib. I know I say that. But I love him so much, he can be a hundred and if I’m still around he can sleep on my chest if he wants to. 💙💙💙😅😅😅😅🙈🙈🙈🙈 my baby needs me. Just like yours needs you.
Personally, I’ll never do the cry it out method. http://news.spotlightstories.co/wife-climbs-crib-viral-post/ Here’s an eye opener I think. For me at least. 💔

My son slept amazingly in his rock n play until 2 months old and then transitioned to his crib. The transition was kinda hard but by 3 months he was sleeping in it every night. With this baby our crib is not even set up yet. Still in the garage. She is sleeping amazingly in the rock n play and we will set the crib up to start the transition between 6-8wks old. In the beginning babies like to sleep snug warm and tight. They don’t like the cold flat un-snug surface of the crib. Best advice I can give you is swaddling super super tight! My girl hates to be swaddled with her hands in but if I do it anyways she sleeps sooo much better than if I leave her hands out of the swaddle.

We had our baby in a new born Boppy pillow but it’s not the breastfeeding one, it’s like a little bed, kind of. We used that between us at night and during the day when we weren’t carrying our baby ! Babys just need a lot of care there’s no way around it. It will get better the bigger baby gets. It’s ruff I know, hang in the momma. 💖
