What Does a Second Sac Without a Heartbeat Mean in Early Pregnancy?
I had an ultrasound today. Baby is measuring 5w6d with a heart rate of 101. There was another little thing floating around in the sac with it.... the ultrasonograhper was completely unphased. Said “oh it might have been a twin, but it doesn’t have a heartbeat” soooo... what does that mean? Is it a dead fetus in me? What’s going to happen to it? Or is there a possibility it’s too early for its heart to have started? I’m so confused. What else could be floating around with my baby? The baby and the yolk sac were both visible so I know it wasn’t the yolk sac

@kellynicole, it was only the ultrasound tech and she said it didn’t have a heartbeat and she said she’d send a message to my doc to have me go in for another ultrasound 🤷🏼♀️

If it is a twin and no heartbeat the other baby will just absorb it. That's what happened with my son. I was pregnant with twins in the beginning. But at my 12 week scan there was only 1.
Ask your doc about getting another ultrasound?

@txmomof5, they scheduled me for 2 weeks out. So I’ll know more then I suppose.

I'm not for sure but I remember another girl on here that had another baby and it had a twin and it was called Vanishing twin syndrome. And the one that was left was okay but normally since you went in very early is very rare to see it or something like that cuz she went in about the same time to. I do have her on Facebook so I could maybe ask her.

It’s not dangerous to your live baby at all! I’d just be on the look out for bleeding and stuff in case you do. My mom was pregnant and she bled and stuff came back for an ultrasound and they were like oh you’re still pregnant it must of been twins. But you’re still very early so I don’t think it should physically effect you at all.
