Anyone else’s Mother’s Day a bit shit?
Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids and partner to bits, and my ex husband never remembered or cared about Mother’s Day... but this year my partner has really dropped the ball and I’m upset.
Last year I got breakfast made for me, I got a nice gift from him and he got the boys flowers to give to me and we went out for lunch.. this year however:
I got a shower head, not even wrapped, a card with no envelope even... I made everyone’s breakfast, and rather than going out to lunch, my partner informs me has to go to work for a few hours over lunch 😞
So I been at home with all the kids, did lunch and now I get a message he has been held up and will probably miss the dinner at my mums place.
And to top it off, yesterday he got himself a $1000 something box of fucking LEGO he has spent most of yesterday and this morning building....
Am I being crazy or is this shit? I’m overtired as bubs doesn’t sleep. Am I overreacting? I don’t get why this year it just feels like no one cares.
haha your lucky my husband never even acknowledged mothers day... he did nothing and never got me anything it was just another day but with lots of fighting about money and what to have for dinner...
@babybert16, nope 😂 it leaks worse than my old one (could be how we installed it, I’ve got a plumber coming on Saturday)
I’m sure in a few years it will be something we both laugh about. A friend of mine thinks it’s hilarious
@babybert16, and I still don’t understand the shower head 😂 who buys someone a shower head for a gift 😂😂😂
He is yet to explain that one lol!
@babybert16, yeah I did. He did feel bad as he admitted he forgot about Mother’s Day this year, even though it’s the first Mother’s Day with his biological child (which is why I think it got to me, he was amazing with my boys even though he is not their bio dad)
I actually snapped as he said something about it being a “good day” and I went off lol! Along the lines of “good day for who?”
He felt guilty I think as he admitted later it was a bit shit and then said he would make it up to me (we will see)
Yeah it’s not so much the gift, at least he remembered, it’s the lack of shits given. It could be just any other day. There was not even a hint at effort. Which is not like him. Really don’t know what’s going on but seriously not impressed.
Anyway I ordered pizza for me and the boys, invited my sister who is a single mumma over for lunch and had a nice time. Now getting the boys ready for dinner at my mums. Not gonna let his shit spoil my day.
At least I’m not the only one having a shit go. To all the other Mummas who’s partners and kids forgot...
Happiest of Mother’s Day to you all. Your amazing! Your loved! Your important to your babies! Never forget it.
This is slack. Mother's day is about appreciation rather than gifts. I don't know about you, but I'd rather they put effort into making me feel special than a gift and being forgotten about for the remainder of the day. Sorry you had a bad day.
It’s shit!! I got nothing!! He only remember at 3pm and I’ve been up with Bub since 6am and he slept til 2pm (wtf) then asked me to cook him food! Snapchat reminded him so I got a happy Mother’s out of him so I guess that’s something... maybe next year!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
My 5 year old brother just got circumcised due to all the infections he kept on getting & seeing him in so much pain not being able to walk makes me glad I got my son circumcised as a newborn & planning on doing the same with my second baby.
Make your own breakfast!
At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.

Am I wrong to be upset? Last night I was running a fever, weak, tired, sore, my left boob feels like it got used as a punching bag. I asked my husband to call out of work today to help me with the kid so I could get some rest. He went to work. I texted him this morning. Part of me thinks I mean. The other part of me thinks I was fine for saying that because he should've stayed home with us.
Yep that's pretty shit to be honest, I would be upset too. I think it's the no effort that's the biggest issue.
This year my hubby made me coffee in bed and the girls made a lovely card and super sweet video, for me it's the first mother's Day that I felt valued so I can understand why you feel the way you do.
I think a breakfast in bed and a homemade gift from your little ones would have been perfect, hopefully your next mother's Day is a better one
