I want more babies but i’m terrified of the same thing happening. What are the chances i’ll have…

@curious.george, Oh ok got it. No one ever really told me why they thought my daughter was 7 weeks early. I had so much extra fluid in my stomach and I feel like my body just couldn’t do it anymore. I had an ultrasound done 4 days before she was born and they said everything was normal so 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree it depends if there was an underlying issue and if so, if it's something that could happen again. I went into pre term labor with my first at 26 weeks, they stopped the contractions but I was on bed rest for the duration of my pregnancy. I didn't have that problem with my other 3 pregnancies.

My 1st was full term.. My 2nd born my water broke at wk 23 I laid in the hospital 2hrs away for 9wks until he was born... My 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th we're all full term after that.. My 8th my water broke again at wk23 and she passed at wk24..I'm 14wks and praying I go full term.. And no issues when it happened they we're both healthy when my water broke

Depends on why. Once you’ve had a preemie, your risk for another increases. By how much depends on the reason why you had a preemie. My first was overdue, my second was a 23 weeker for unknown reasons. Before we had another we went to 3 specialists to see if it was safe to have another. Our risks were only slightly increased and we made a game plan for as soon as I got pregnant. Preventative cerclage at 13 weeks, Makena injections 16-36 weeks and close monitoring. I made it to 37.6 weeks.

@laniejay, I actually thought to myself if I have another one i’ll want to speak with someone first and see what my risks are. I know many babies are born way before my daughter at 33 weeks but it was still a roller coaster ride getting out of the NICU and a c section and everything that I wouldn’t want to go through again.

@jtaylorg, it’s definitely worth it to have a consultation first. It made it far less scary having a game plan in place and knowing exactly what we needed to do. Being proactive rather than reactive is part of the reason I think my last pregnancy was successful in getting so far.
