Who has tattoos? I just got one last night. He told me to keep the wrap on for 3-4 days. The aftercare instructions i got said after 2 hours. What should i do? I’ll attach pic in comments
I’m covered and my kids father is a tattoo artist and he would cover mine for an hour or two and as soon as we got home he would tell me to take it off. Then clean it 4-5 times a day with unscented antibacterial dial soap and pat it dry and then put gold bond lotion on it. Also try and avoid direct sunlight until it’s healed up! Just don’t cover it, let it breathe and keep it clean. It looks nice and should heal up fine 😊
I have 4 and never wrapped any of them lol my boyfriend has two full sleeves and chest and ribs and never wrapped his either. They never got infected or fadded.
@annarizzo123, Yeah I’d never leave it wrapped with something like that. It drives me nuts. I take it off before we even leave the shop. I always put tegaderm on right before we leave though, and I’ve fallen in love with that method. It’s so much easier.
@theinkedmommy, yes Saran Wrap is what he used for sure I let my full sleeve air out and it came out perfect
@annarizzo123, Not with tegaderm. With Saran Wrap, possibly.
Leaving it wrapped can trap moisture and cause infection I told my boyfriend this he didn’t listen and got an infection on part of his sleeve open air is best keep it clean and light layers of aquaphor
@kellynicole, Not dumb, just didn’t know is all. I was brand new to it too, once upon a time. 😜
@amberrosiee, @tinyhumansbitch, @theirmommytiara, @_sheriee, @rjxmommy, thanks girls!
@theinkedmommy, oh 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I’m dumb lol. Thank you for your help
@theinkedmommy, thank you!! I’ll look into tegaderm! Is it a wash??
I had the same wrap, in pretty much the same spot. She told me it would be easiest to take it off in the shower. I took it off the next day , it makes sleeping easier.
@kellynicole, Firstly? Beautiful tattoo! I use tegaderm/saniderm for my tattoos as well. I leave it on for 3-4 days, unless the plasma and blood get to the point of it leaking. These bandages prevent your tattoo from being painful, as dry healing (which I used to do) can be tight and painful on tattoos. So I prefer to use the tegaderm/saniderm. Once you’ve had it on a few days and can see that it’s dry inside the bandage, take it off in the shower (it’ll hurt less) and give it a good wash with dial gold soap. Pat it dry, and let it be for a day. Then you can start applying unscented lotion (I use aveeno) over the next few days when it gets dry. Tegaderm prevents harsh scabs that you get from dry healing. Instead, these scabs will be soft and painless when you’re lotioning your tattoo. You should be good to go after that. ❤️ I don’t use anything like A&D or aquaphor because it can fade your tattoo. It clogs your pores from breathing, making it twice as complicated for your tattoo to heal.
When I got mine done she told me I could take it off when I got home or the next day it was up to me.
@tinyhumansbitch, yeah i didn’t specify because i didn’t know what to call it besides wrap! Lol
I've always kept it covered for 2 hours then washed it and put the A&D ointment on it
@_sheriee, ok! I didn’t know there was a timeline difference between the two!
Then the 3-4 days like he told you. With plastic wrap you’d be able to take it off but this one stays on, it’s almost like a protective film
@tinyhumansbitch, do i wash it right after i take it off?
@tinyhumansbitch, hahaha I’m thinking of unwrapping it i feel like it’s suffocating in there it’s so hot
@_sheriee, it’s not plastic wrap it’s more like surgical wrap that kind of clings. Probably what you’re talking about w fish skin
Did he use plastic wrap or did he use something that looks almost like a fish skin?
I love that tattoo! I have 14 right now and I have never keep it on for more than the first couple of hours.
