I requested the IUD paragard and I've been so depressed waiting on it. Not sure if I really want it. Has anyone had any bad experiences with it?

I've heard and seen a lot of negative reviews on the IUD. I don't mean to scare you but it can potentially dislodge and break apart in your body which can cause a lot of problems and can possibly make you sterile if that happens.

The paraguard is non hormonal which is why I chose it. After insertion I bled like a heavy period for 7 days. Since then all I’ve had is mild spotting every once in awhile. I’m also breastfeeding so I’m not sure how it would affect periods. Because it’s non hormonal you shouldn’t have any changes in mood, weight, acne, etc. so far I enjoy it.

I will never put another foreign object I'm my body again. The IUD was the worst thing I ever did. I can't tell you not to get it but I definitely would do your research. The Dr try to push the iud and I think it's there worse thing out there. I had mine and after I had it taken out I had cysts never had them in my life before the iud. Not trying to scare you but it's a scary thing. I had a friend who's was ending in her wall and she had to have it surgically removed. Good luck hun

@melinanae yeah, I would honestly avoid it... When I go back on birth control if I do I'm sticking with the pill. It's a pain in the ass but at least it's safer. There's so many options with the pill so one of them is bound to work

I had one for 10 years. I had very heavy periods and cramping was the worst. I know they say it has no hormones but when I was on it that’s when I had a lot of anxiety and panic attacks. Idk if it had anything to to with it. I took it out 4 years ago because we decided we wanted another baby.(plus it was time for it to come out) Anxiety went away and so did the panic attacks. It took me three years to get pregnant. Not sure if it was all linked together, but I feel that it was. Do more research. I now have nexplanon. It’s worked good so far. My periods aren’t heavy anymore.

I’m on it now. Period cramps are horrible! Lots of heavy bleeding. Also, I get bad anxiety.

My experience is basically the same as @glencoco , I've had a lighter period and less cramping. Everything affects everyone differently and every form of birth control as negative drawbacks so it's a matter of deciding what you're will it put up with
