So so true. I had a convo like this with my mom. Yay microwave hotdogs and cheese slice and that one scratched up Rainbow Brite VHS. 🌈
My mom would make us a “picnic” which was really just ramen, ritz crackers, cucumber slices, and grapes. One of my favorite dinners growing up 💜
😭 I’ll always remember the times my mom played monopoly with me or took me out to the movies even though she fell asleep thru them. I look back and think she really did try her best
This is sooo true. My mom told me that she loves eating smashed strawberries with milk because it was her favorite dessert as a kid. One day her my grandma told her that smashing them and adding the milk was a way to have strawberries for everybody when there wasn't enough.
Those are my "lazy mom" meals. When I'm just way too tired to actually cook a full meal. Happens more often than I would like to admit.
All of the sudden my eyes are leaking... shout out for all the mommas out there giving it their best! 💕
I always will remember my mom being so tired she’d start falling asleep reading our bedtime stories. I never understood until being a mom myself how much we pour ourselves out to empty every day for our family. It made me appreciate her so much more.
It's also a testament to the fact that as kids, our view of "normal" depends heavily on what happens in the home. 🖤
I remember as a kid opening the fridge and seeing nothing. Then all of a sudden I'm called for dinner and bam full on meal. I always thought my mom had magic powers. 💕
So true i remember my mom making us chicken soup with a taco with slight salt there will barely be any chicken thats why she give us tortilla so it can fill us up
When the struggle was real i will cut up tortillas into pieces and scramble eggs together with the pieces ,my daughter loves them till this day
@sheila_c not gonna lie, that sounds hella good and I never ate that growing up
Sometimes I roll up lunch meat cut up carrots, cucumber and cheese and add some hummus to dip for my kids to eat for dinner. 🤷🏼♀️
@sheila_c, you can add a bit of tomato sauce and cheese and bam you have chilaquiles
Shoot I’m sure I’ve been looking for a Tapas restaurant that does the same thing but charges $10-$20 a plate 😂
When I was little , my mom took my brother and I and left my dad. Half way to Texas, we stopped at what I thought was the fanciest hotels ever. Especially because they had a breakfast buffet.
I asked her about it one day and it turns out, it was a woman shelter.
