So today is national melanoma awareness day, and I just happen to have my yearly skin check up today. As someone who was born with extremely fair skin and who has been cut on more than 40 times in her life, plus one more today, I can tell you that this is no joke. Your skin is extremely important to monitor and take care of. NO ONE IS IMMUNE TO SKIN CANCER. Even those of you who can tan, can still and do still get skin cancer! Quite frankly, you don’t even have to be in the sun to get skin cancer. There are areas on my body that have never even seen the sun, yet tested positive for pre-cancerous cells. The sun just highly increases those chances. Here are some facts: * One person dies of melanoma every hour * More people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined * One in five Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70. * Regular daily use of an SPF 15 or higher sunscreen reduces the risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma by about 40 percent. * Only 20 to 30 percent of melanomas are found in existing moles, while 70 to 80 percent arise on apparently normal skin. * On average, a person's risk for melanoma doubles if he or she has had more than five sunburns * Ultraviolet (UV) tanning devices were reclassified by the FDA from Class I (low risk), to Class II (moderate to high risk) devices as of September 2, 2014. Please, don’t take this lightly, educate yourself! There’s nothing fun about any of this, but the precautions are absolutely better than the alternative!! ссылка #melanomaawareness #nationalmelanomaday #nationalmelanomaawarenessday #skincancer #skincancersucks #skincancerawareness #melanoma
@peacefulmom17, it doesn’t always come back and since it was benign, I wouldn’t worry much. All you need to do is be aware and have regular checkups. 😊
Yes and they took skin around the mole that required stitches but the dr said it was clean now but I have read that it comes back and more aggressive so I have no peace of mind.
@peacefulmom17, it was biopsied correct?
Thank you for posting this I had a mole in between my toes and a wide incision and now I don’t think I will have peace of mind ever.
Thanks for sharing. Awareness is vital. I wish you nothing but the best.
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.

My husband and I aren’t exactly strangers when it comes to relationship challenges 💞. We have been together for 14 years and married for eight, so we’ve definitely gone through some growing pains as we navigated a long-distance relationship in college and our first year living together as a married 👫 couple.
But nothing has challenged our relationship quite like our first year as 👪 parents .
Before you have your first child, you have these grand ideas of what it will be like. There’s more slee...

“You look too young to be a mom!”
Or how about …
“You have a BABY? No! You look like a baby yourself!”👶
Oh wait, here’s a good one …
“Are you the nanny, ooor … ?”
“No, yeah I’m his mom,” I’d reply. “Yes, I am young,” I’d agree.
Considering I got pregnant straight out of college, I was certainly on the younger end of the parenting spectrum. (No one was more surprised than me, I assure you.) And yet, I wasn’t exactly a teen mom. I wasn’t juggling school courses and motherhood, like so many s...

My beautiful little girl went to be with God, her baby sister, and her uncle yesterday morning! I wish so badly that she was still here with me. She was my best friend and my rock. My beautiful sweet baby! My heart went with her! I will never stop missing you my beAutiful Hannah Nicole! Moms always trust your gut feeling and NEVER believe a doctor when they try to change your mind. My baby would still be here with me if the doctors just listened. She went to have a pik line put in which is like ...
Thank you you and all the people with melanoma will be on my prayers.🙂
