When should I change to a high back booster? So my son is 5&1/2 years old and about 55lbs. He still in a 5 point harness…

@klazaro, thanks! I take my child’s safety pretty seriously. By keeping her in a seat that’s developmentally appropriate for her I am reducing her risk of death in car accidents. But don’t worry you do you ❤️

@everythingisschwell, I know this is the most drama I’ve come across. Without the posts being bumped I can’t find anything good. I was also thinking that @klazaro, was from B.B. and should know better then to have her five year old without a booster. No one held back on car seat safety over there lol

@klazaro, 😂 I was going to say there’s no way in hell he passes the test lol. Glad to hear that he’s in a five point harness!!! And I’ll also add that I love how we can post memes! It makes everything way more fun. I almost spit out my water when I saw what you put earlier .

@everythingisschwell, yea it was very hard to hear. I think I’ll call the car seat certified installer and see what he says. He checked my car seats not too long ago. So maybe he will have more insight. But for now he will be staying in the 5 point harness. Thanks for responding

@ss3mom, I wasn’t talking about your 5yo, but klazaro’s. That’s crazy! I don’t think 55lbs is overweight at all. That must have been hard to hear

@everythingisschwell, my 5 year old is off the charts for his weight. I was told at his 5 year check up that he’s overweight!! It was tough to hear that

@everythingisschwell, yes I could never put a five year old with no booster. I don’t get why that would even be the law and why people would think that’s safe.

@effyouceekay, it’s really sad. I’m glad my state protects littles although I’m sure there are parents that ignore the law too 🤷🏻‍♀️

So 5 year olds are legally allowed to just use a lap belt and no booster at all? That’s Crazy!

I would keep him in a five point harness until he is maxed out on weight or height. It’s much safer.

@klazaro, where do you live? My state requires all kids to be in a booster if they’re under 8.

@klazaro the lap belt isn't across his thighs and the shoulder belt is behind him so how does that pass the test?

@ss3mom If he meets the weight requirements I'd move him to a booster if you aren't worried about him getting out while you are driving.

@klazaro there is no way your 5 year old meets ALL the seatbelts check list requirements because my 10 year old is still in a booster because he's to short and under 100 lbs.

Yea I’ve been thinking about it. I have to double check the manual to make sure. He could be over the weight limit for the 5 point harness seat anyway
