Breastfeeding Question: I had a strong let down feeling when my boobs refill and it’s time to feed and i could pump about 4oz-5oz every three hours ...well the past two days it seems like my breast milk has decreased to 2oz or less every three hours and I’m forced to mix it with formula and i don’t feel my boobs refilling like i used to so I’m assuming my milk is drying up ?! Which is horrible ... any tips on how i can increase my milk back to 4oz-5oz so i don’t have to mix it with formula or substitute..
@roguemommyofjx3, yea i don’t like the way any of that sounds ... I’m power pumping now to see if that helps . Have you heard of Mother’s Milk Tea ?
Try the herb Fenugreek. Helped up my supple a lot. Can be bought at Walmart or just about anyplace that sells vitamins and whatnot
Nothing will work but putting baby on the breast. Also as said above your supply is regulating. I no longer get engorged unless my daughter is cluster feeding or skips 2 meals. Also you should be pumping every 2 hours and not 3. 2oz should be enough for one feeding. My daughter still drinks 1.5oz at 10 months old and it usually keeps her filled for 1 or 2 hours.
@desire.clyburn i really don't know. I think just drinking lots of fluids helps and they help with electrolytes which is also the reason.
@mommyof.3, okay i heard about the Gatorade so i got the lemon lime flavor ... does it make a difference?
My supply dipped too but it came back up. It happens. Drink a lot of water and/or red Gatorade. Also put baby to nurse. That helps a lot. If you dont nurse then do power pump sessions to help increase it. Also oatmeal helps too.
NO. your milk is not drying up. Your supply is regulating and it can become hard to pump a good amount. The more you supplement formula the more it will suffer too. But if you can't nurse then you'll just have to pump more.
@vvrobinson, I’m heading to the store now for the tea... i just finished power pumping. Thank you
