How did/are you keep your weight in check while pregnant?? I'm so worried about gaining "too much". I started out at 110lbs and I'm 5feet tall. I went to my follow up yesterday and I'm almost 25 weeks along now. I weighed in at 130lbs. My doc made mentioned that I gained 10lbs in 5 weeks and that is "more than they would like". She said my overall weight is fine but just the amount within the time frame was a bit much. I've tried eating healthier and etc but sometimes I just want a freaking burger! :(
@kjcross thanks so much!! Sounds like you're basically the same as me then! I've been so worried about the weight that I tried making a smoothie for breakfast..just fruit and plain yogurt and milk. Needless to say I was not please and neither was baby girl and I was hungry within an hour or two lol. I'm not going to stress it too bad and just be mindful!
@rachael.mei Sounds like your Dr didn't have anything else to nit-pick that day lol. You sound like you've gained healthily. I'm the same, I gained a cup size or two plus a little around my thighs/butt but I still fit into a lot of my pre-P jeans and shirts...but I've gained 26 lbs already 😲. I feel like maybe some people just have more dense gains in their baby maker? Lol Maybe our babes are part Hulk? 😂😂
Oh, btw, my Dr said she gained a ton with her kids (she is TINY) and that 35-50lbs is totally normal and okay. I'm not going to let myself worry about it. You probably shouldn't either 😁
@kjcross well my doc said that my weight was fine but that I gained a bit more than they like to see in 5 weeks. I'm not sure what you're supposed to gain each week during each trimester but I mean the baby starts growing some too and that'll contribute to weight too. I'm the same way, my weight gain has been basically all stomach! That and I had to go up a bra size lol. My thighs have gotten only a tiny bit bigger too but I'm not complaining about that because I felt too skinny beforehand. I'm still wearing a size 1 in maternity pants and I wear a small in all maternity tops. I can even wear a small in some non maternity shirts! So I have no clue why it was a little concerning for me to gain 10 lbs
I don't know, I'm in the same boat except my Dr said my weight was fine. Started at 128 (5'7") and I'm at 154 now (24.5 weeks). It's all belly though and idk if that's a good thing?
@hollyn216 yeah my cousin is actually 24 weeks pregnant like me but she goes to a doctor an hour away because of where she lives and it is totally different than mine! They wouldn't allow her to hear the heartbeat at her 8w scan whereas mine did and they are doing her diabetes test now whereas my doc waits til 28w. Oh gosh yeah they gave me some pamphlet with all these NO NO foods and you basically got left with water and lettuce lol I did my own research to find what's really that bad! I'll keep that in mind too :) I have never been one for working out or anything so I got totally bummed out thinking I may have to be some sort of vegan and doing an immense amount of exercise to be pregnant lmao
@amberspringer okay thanks :) that makes me feel better! And I'll be more active over the summer because my mom lives close by and has a pool in her neighborhood. And my dad doesnt live too far away either and he has a pool at his house too. So I'll get a bit of cardio in to cover for my burger and fries here and there haha
All docs are different, we travel for work so my 1st was New Orleans, 2nd Baby in Texas, & this final baby will be Oklahoma (Home) my point is during my travels and experience certain doctors care more about silly things when others don't! My 1st doctor was so easy going I loved her she was moderate with what to eat & not to eat and weight gain while my 2nd baby doctor was Anti-Hot Dogs, Deli, Runny Eggs and told me I was gaining too much, it really puts a damper on things when its only 2-3 lbs. Take everything with a slight grain of salt! I PROMISE you'll lose the weight at your small size. I'm 4'11 and ive gained 35, 25, and guaranteed this last baby will surpass 35 🤣 But I know it will all be just fine and I'll get my pre-pre-pre baby body back like I always do 😜 + Healthy Babies 💗 Thats all that matters in the end anyways 💗💗💙
@rachael.mei, well if you were eating like a horse it would be something to control but with not eating that bad, I think you will slow down and be ok. You gotta think around 30lbs at the end of pregnancy will be all baby material
@taylorsmommy1017 oh no I wont! My doc already said that i only "need to fast for 2 hours" but i was still worried i could fail so i scheduled it for 830 in the morning lol
@amberspringer thanks! Yeah see my mom gained like 70lbs with me and I think my aunt gained even more than that with her kids so I've been a freak over it because I definitely dont want to over do it to that extent. But I've read it can slow down at times so it may even itself out!
@prettyjazz98 thanks so much!! We found out through genetic testing so I found out at like 12 weeks haha I'm also super impatient!! I dont know how girls do it when they actually wait til 20w so you're better than me!
@karina0414 thanks for this!!! This is what I was thinking of too! I thought babies have growth spurts around this time I mean my app says shes gone to weighing over a pound so I expected some weight gain so I was freaked when she made it seem like I did more than I should've
@rachael.mei, that isn’t much though. You are probably going to slow down in weight gain. You are doing fine with eating so I wouldn’t freak too much till it’s way out of hand. A girl I went to school with gained 100lbs with her daughter. It really sucked for her cause she was a cheerleader but her baby was very healthy and she had no complications. Besides everything dealing with baby, weighs a lot
@taylorsmommy1017 thanks love! As of right now I dont think I am. I will have my diabetes test at the end of the month on the 31st! I'm trying to just be more mindful of what I eat but allow myself to eat and then maybe go for a long walk or something to help out haha
@rachael.mei, aww well congratulations on your baby girl can’t wait for my next appointment to find out the gender
@prettyjazz98 well I was a size 0 or 1 when I got pregnant and I had 2 miscarriages before so they had me on progesterone daily which caused some bloating early on :/ I think my actual bump came at about 18weeks! My profile pic I am 20 weeks but was also a little bloated because it was the end of the day
@amberspringer I've been trying to incorporate those more and more! Quite honestly, I actually crave fruits and vegetables. And I drink nothing but water. I have the occasional Sprite or something but I've sworn off caffeine altogether so I dont drink much soda and I dont drink any coffee. I think what got me was that i CRAVED chips ahoy cookies and milk one weekend. To the point i got dressed and got out of the house for them. I ate the whole thing in a week :/ that's the worst I've been! I go for the test at 28w too!
@rachael.mei, when did your bump come? I️ have a bump but can’t wait for it to really pop
@mommytotheo that makes me feel better! I dont think she was "concerned" but when I asked how I'm doing with weight she mentioned how I jumped a bit between my 19 week appointment and this weeks appointment. Once it stays warm enough to warm the pools I am going to start swimming!
@prettyjazz98 thanks so much! Yeah I was the same in the beginning that I tried to gain some weight because i felt so thin and boney
Have they tested you yet for gestational diabetes? I’m doing mine at 28weeks. But I’ve seen some doing it earlier
Eat lots of fruit and veggies. That way you can eat lots but it’s not much in calories.
I tried to eat healthy and not gain a lot but I did. I was 112 when I started 5'1 I weighed 154 the day I gave birth at one point I gained 5 pounds in one week. Girl it will come off. I'm 5 months pp and I've lost 45 pounds already I'm almost back down to my pre pregnancy weight. If your OB is concerned though (mine wasnt) you can walk, swimming is a great exercise to for pregnant women
@rachael.mei, lol yes!
