At what temp should I start to worry with my 3 yr old? he has what I would consider a fever.. but I don’t really know…

If the temp hits 103 bring him in.

At that age it's 103 if you can't get it down with medication that you should worry.

You can try skin to skin with him as well, lay him against you and cover with a light blanket. It will help bring his temp down.

103 and lethargic are what my pediatrician told me to look for.. but calling the dr is always reassuring :) I know I would call my sons doctor for every fever just so they knew what was happening and they would reassure me he was going to be okay

@andivandermolen, his went from 101.7 to 103.3 in less than an hour so I’m definitely going to see what’s going on..

When my son is sick his dr said to piggy back meds.. so every 3 hours switch between ibuprofen and acetaminophen. So give one like ibuprofen and then 3 hours later give acetaminophen and then 3 more hours give ibuprofen again. :) that way when one med is wearing off the new one is kicking in.. also cool baths and popsicles.. just push the fluids as much as you can because they sweat even if you can’t tell and you don’t want little one to be dehydrated.. How is he doing now?

@melindas, I have him at the ER now... they’re telling me nothing is wrong when clearly he’s burning up and lethargic, he’s saying it hurts when he’s being touched.. she pushed on his belly and he nearly cried cause it hurt him! even the lady who did his vitals said she thought the thermometer was wrong because he felt extremely hot! I just want to walk out of here, all they’re going to do is monitor him they say 😑

@mommy_x3, ugh I hate that happened to my daughter once and she was clearly very sick, they sent us home than called me 2 days later oh we forgot to tell you she did test positive for RSV! I was lividddd. Horrible experience I ever had.

I would keep asking for another doctor maybe and have them get another thermometer to check his temp again. It prolly is a virus my daughter had it about 2 weeks ago so it was going around, but I know the feeling it sucks.

@melindas, I would’ve been mad too!! RSV is nothing to play about.. they just checked him with a different thermometer and it was 102.3 😑 He may just have a virus though.. his brother and sister have had a cold but not much of temps, well not like this! His was 103.3 when we came so it’s only came down 1 degree since we’ve been here (3 hours) and that’s with medicine right before we came...

@mommy_x3, yeah my daughters recently was 103.5 she had the fever for about 6 days, it was a stupid virus.

Yeah maybe let them monitor him for a little more to see if the temp goes down anymore with another dose of medicine.

But yeah her virus was for a good 6-7 days, it sucks seeing them so sick 😩
