So what do you guys think is better? When I have my son I’m debating between the IUD and Depo shot... what do you guys think is better
I loved my IUD too. I had the mirena twice for a total of 9 years with no issues at all. I also didn't have a period which was amazing and I still got pregnant 4 months after removing it.
I loved my IUD when I had it. Ill never get the depo shot. My iud was placed way to early seconds afyer giving birth so it feel into my bathtub one day when everything shifted back to normal I was sad lol. Everyone I know who had the IUD loves it. Keep in mind there are horror stories with every birth control. People only want to share the bad not good of an IUD. I got the Nexaplon for birth control when I got new one and I love it. I don't breastfed but my sis in law does and she has tje Nexplanon as well breastfed her baby for 2 years and never messed with her supply. She recommend the Nexaplon to me
@lulu85_18 haha I think Im gonna give good ol copper a try
@addeeisme, yeah, not interested. Eep. I had the NuvaRing and he could feel it. I ended up getting pregnant on it anyway. 😛
@nlock, hopefully it works out for you. If you do the iud just make sure it’s properly inserted to avoid further complications.
@lulu85_18 they can with any iud if they feel for it. Iuds have two fishing line like strings that hang
@addeeisme, I’ve heard with the copper IUD, your SO can feel it with his member. 😵
@nlock, dang, I would go depo then and see if that works for you since the pill didn’t
@leslyev92, I don’t need more mood swings my man would kill me 😂😂😂 but I was going to try the depo first then the iud
@lilinnocence718, that’s something that I’ve never really wanted either was something inserted in me that was not meant to be there
Tbh I tried both after my first son and I hated both for different reasons. The IUD seemed to be hooked on something, one week after it was inserted I could not get up from the bed. The pain was unbearable. And I had a newborn to tend to.
The depo shot made me angry and fat, no lie lol I think if you exercise and take care of yourself you’ll be okay, I just hated the mood swings and excessive weight gain and I used it one time. Just sharing my experience, we’re all different. I chose to stay away from both.
@lulu85_18, me too! My midwife kept asking me about bc because I got pregnant young and after expressing all my fears about it moving and her letting me know who isn’t a good candidate I just told her, “honestly I’m not comfortable with the idea of inserting something in my body that’s not meant to be there” after that talk she left me alone
Not when I had her but when I got pregnant with her @lilinnocence718,
@lilinnocence718, I was on the pill when I had my daughter lol
@nlock, I understand, I would go with the pill maybe? Definitely would stay away from any bc that needs to be inserted in
Anyone try the copper iud? I think Im going to get that. I probably shouldn't do the hormonal ones while I have depression and such. I heard they make the ph intolerable for sperm or something like that
There was just a post on here earlier about a girl who had the iud, she had it in for 3 years and it dislodged itself and moved into her stomach where it broke into 3 pieces. She had major organ damage and her toes were amputated because they decayed due to the organ failure. She's unfortunately sterile now... So I'd say no in the IUD and I've also heard nothing but negative things about depo and nexplanon is also risky
@lilinnocence718, the IUD scares me too. Honestly, I wouldn’t choose either. I plan to do the mini pill. It’s safe during breastfeeding.
@lilinnocence718, oh my . Don’t need that but I definitely need bc cause after I had my daughter about 3 months later I was pregnant again
If you plan to breastfeed the only non hormonal bc option is an iud (what I was told from my midwife in 2015) however I’ve seen so many horror stories lately about the iud (a lady lost her ovaries and toes from the iud moving out of place) I would stay away from bc that gets inserted and stays in you.
Depo was HORRIBLE for me!!! Too many side effects and I ended up getting pregnant and miscarrying during my first dose of it.
