K guys I posted in our chat yesterday but I’m signing my daughter up for kindergarten, whose schools still use corporal punishment? I couldn’t believe what I was reading😳🤦♀️
I made a post about corporal punishment on B.B. a few months back. No fucking way would I agree to this. I don’t hit my child, so no one else is gonna hit her! Teachers are there to teach her, administrators are there to make sure the school is running smoothly. Let me find out someone laid a hand, foot, paddle, ruler, or whatever on my baby and I’m burning that bitch down to the ground!
@queenmeeks that’s exactly how I feel! I thought this crap ended years ago. In every single parenting book you read these days they never suggest violence as use of discipline anymore, never! How are they still doing this in schools? And “you’ll get a call before punishment is administered” what does that even mean? 🙄
@montymama.bb and plenty of schools won’t call you until after it’s done even though they say they will call you. I wish on every star in the sky my child would tell me she was physically punished at school. Everyone is getting their ass beat and we all going to jail.
Last year a 2nd grader got slapped across the face by a teacher and the teacher didn’t even lose her job, she quit because of the controversy...I just can’t even believe this bs

I wouldn't allow someone else to lay a hand on my child. If my child does something (in their eyes) That would be bad enough for that kind of punishment I would want to be called and I will handle it.
@mamagunn.no.1 it’s real! Not classified as abuse because a parent has signed off for it to happen and there is a limit to how hard and how many times a child can be paddled.
@mamagunn.no.1 should be I guess in like 19 states corporal punishment is still legal and mine happens to be one of them🙄

@queenmeeks @montymama.bb that is absolutely crazy! We abolished that I think im the 1970's I honestly can't believe that's a thing! Especially in kindergarten 😢 poor little things
We have to sign a permission slip for it too. I remember when I was in first grade way back in 1987, a boy kept getting in trouble and one day his mom showed up in class with a switch off a tree. She took him in the bathroom in the back of the class and “spanked” him with it. The teacher was completely on board with it too.
@montymama.bb i would be paranoid everyday that they would be spanking them consent or not. They're obviously trained to do so, so maybe it would just be force of habit?
@mamagunn.no.1 that’s exactly what I’m worried about, I talked to my other mama friend here whose against it and she said she never had a problem. And I talked to my daughter that if they ever tried she needs to put up a fight and tell me right away. If they did I’d pull her out and homeschool right away.

I’m in Georgia when I was in high school they did this. I think they still do cause my brothers in high school. My dad put no. Not condoning it cause there’s no way in hell I would agree to that but if they’re allowed they spank with a paddle as an alternative to suspending them.
I saw a clip on Facebook a few months ago of a teacher hitting a highschool student, like smacking him over and over in a moment of anger. I highly doubt they actually call parents beforehand. And I wouldn’t trust a school that practices corporal punishment to respect my wishes if I don’t give permission. Messed up that this is still a thing.

@montymama.bb OMG. I'm sorry. This makes me so upset. Can you not petition the school board to change their policies? Homeschool? Move? Sorry, I just don't know how I would handle this.
Wow how ridiculous! I’m a teacher and no way in hell would I ever want to hit a child! I can’t imagine a situation where that would ever be called for. School is supposed to be a safe place, not a place kids fear.
This is really real 😐... this would never be acceptable in Canada. My daughters lunch supervisor was fired for grabbing a child in her classes arm... teachers are not allowed to be hands on with students here at all.
@badkitty4 I talk to some moms who have kids in school here and said no and they haven’t had problems. I’m worried that if I homeschooled I wouldn’t be able to dedicate enough one on one time to it. But if there’s ever an issue I’ll homeschool right away. We can’t move because my husbands job we have at least one more year here

@mimixtmn @badkitty4 same applies for Australia too. There's no way a teacher would get away with laying a finger on a child. I can't even wrap my head around the fact that this actually goes on still.

Ummmm! No that would not be happening. If i ever found out they laid a hand on my child they would be sued and i would be in jail for beating them. This momma bear would be very upset. I can’t believe that even an option.

I'm in Texas and have literally never seen or heard of this in any of the schools.... interesting, growing up in Naples Italy though, my teachers whooped kids asses , I got spanked once and pulled by my ear 🤔 but that was Italy.
@mama_brum, I’m super far west Texas in a really small town, they’re the types of people “stuck in their ways” it wasn’t that surprising after I thought about where I live but I had no clue this was something that was even still legal to be honest.
