So my bf is convinced that we NEED to cut our little girls hair when she’s born, for thicker hair. I did it with my boys because, well they’re boys so I didn’t mind them being bald for a little. But for a girl I’m so hesitant, thoughts on this?
I’ve looked online and it’s not proven that the hair would come out better or thicker but please correct me if I’m wrong!
@aileen_west, def if that’s what you want and believe will work then do it lol I just don’t think it makes much of a difference in my opinion and I don’t wanna see my baby girl bald unless she’s born that way already. I’ll love her bald little head lol
@deepsoul0490, see now that I’m not against, trimming her hair I know will help her hair to grow just like it helps ours! Thanks mama!
We waited til she turned 1 and trimmed very little bit of the tips all around and literaly her hair grew soooo much after that
@aileen_west, if you look at previous comments, someone said their friend cut their daughters hair & little one is now 3 & her hair hasn’t grown out. That’s pretty scary to me lol
@aileen_west, yeah that’s my mothers belief too! Did you notice a difference in your sons hair ?
@pinnkmom, oh I feel you on that. Yes you totally should! ❤️
@leslyev92, I know! I almost had a mental breakdown after I cut it. I felt like it was a mistake! Lol but thanks, I think we are gonna let it grow out again
@pinnkmom, such beautiful hair tho 😍😍😍 I’m sure when he gets older he’ll grow it out some.
@leslyev92, thanks girl ! I feel like he looks like a little man now. We no longer get the “she’s so pretty” comments ! Lol
@pinnkmom, he’s such a cutie 😍❤️
@pinnkmom, you trimmed it or did you shave him bald ?
Yeah I can’t do it to my baby girl. Just can’t lol
I’m not cutting my daughter’s hair! That would be too traumatizing! Lol I just cut my son’s birth hair after 2.5yrs of growth. I still get sad about it.
@angelfoodcake, thank you and oh I’d never heard of that, I did cut my both my boys hair at a year old, because that’s when they needed it.
@leslyev92 Exactly I'm sure she will be beautiful no matter what, hair and all, short or long.
In the south black community I've heard often not cutting boys hair until 1 because it's bad luck. I don't believe or participate in that either. I think 1 is okay to wait, or whenever + personal choice, but not based off luck. Just silly.
@taylorsmommy1017, I would be freaking out, yeah I really don’t wanna cut my daughters hair. I feel like whatever hair she is born with will be beautiful. No need to try and change it.
Oh I see, glad the reasoning isn't based on vanity or superstition, was about to pull out some scriptures. Lol. And I've heard of the tradition maybe from a particular African tribe, can't quite remember. Just do what you feel is right love
@angelfoodcake, well my mother said she cut my hair because it was too thin and so by cutting it, it would be thicker/stronger.
I would assume my bf was told the same, we’re both 25 & come from hispanic households who, if I’m not mistaken, are the ones that believe this to be true. I don’t want my daughter to be bald, unless she is born that way and tbh I don’t think it makes a difference at all in the hair.
@taylorsmommy1017, that’s crazy!!! Has the dr said anything about it growing back at some point?
(in a very polite non disrespectful tone) What's the belief behind it? Or even purpose of cultivating "more hair"; hair does not justify the person, nor their heart, or even beauty - regardless of what we often gravitate too...
@angelfoodcake, yeah it’s something our parents believed in, I got all my hair cut off as a baby 😒
I've never heard of that being true at all; I thought it was a traditional... I personally would not.
I def wouldn't do it. Most babies lose.most of their hair a few months after birth anyways, so you'll basically be starting over twice
@raquely, her hair is beautiful 😍
So since I’m getting my results next week I wanna take a poll am I having a boy or a girl 💝💙
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
