Can we have a serious discussion? We can argue the topic all we want in the comments. I’m not afraid of a little heated discussion, haha! No reporting views that are different than yours. TOPIC: COWS MILK. 🐄 Do you feed it to your children? Do YOU drink it? For me, it’s devastating that so many support an Industry that is a known horror show. The mother cows are forced to reproduce, their babies are taken away with in the first hours of their lives, and the boy cows are either sold for meat or killed within the day. I figure as mothers, we wouldn’t want that to happen to us, so why would we support such a thing? Humans are the only mammals that steal another animals milk for consumption. Milk that is designed biologically to help grow a two thousand pound animal. Almond milk is delicious, and harms nobody. Soy is a great alternative. Humans are the only mammals who consume milk after infancy, as well. I know that 10% of dairy farms are kind to their animals (up until death.), but that’s only 10%. And, those “good” diary farms are charging much more on a gallon of cows milk than the mass factory farms are charging ( dairy pure, Walmart brand, Land o Lakes, Kraft.) I personally know many people just grab the most inexpensive brand not even thinking about the suffering that came from that brand. I’m genuinely curious as to why so many people are still using and consuming cows milk.
We are milk drinkers in my house we use almost a gallon a day haha my daughter is on 1%-2% and my husband drinks whole... people can say all day it’s sad but you can buy special milk that doesn’t come from mass produced dairy farms but no way I’m paying $10 a gallon of milk (not sure the price just tossing a crazy number out there)
My mom and brother are both butchers soooo it’s a lifestyle for fresh meats and dairy haha
My food eats your food 🤷🏻♀️
My child will drink chocolate milk and i will cook with it sometimes, but i prefer almond milk. I feel really bad about the cows but i also eat a ton of cheese and i know it comes from cows milk.
@jennatess, the cycle would need to break, so many people are used to hold habits and traditions get passed on, if that don’t change it’s hard for people to see the other side .
@jellybeans_mumm, you’re right. It’s definitely unfortunate that this is the world we live in. But, this is why we need to make a stand. Only support companies that are reputable. Not just the most inexpensive brand.
My son drinks 2% milk , this is how the world is, we will never understand why us humans live off of animals, animals live off animals as well it’s part of the food chain, my son only drinks milk once a day before he goes to bed, this is a way bigger topic then anyone can explain, but unfortunately this is a world we live in.
@ashleyrod, thank you!
I work with a woman who does it all herself. I respect the hell out of her for it. Since my daughter was like a few months old i keep reminding her that when Faye starts asking questions that we will be stopping by. I just don’t want to do it too young. I don’t want to mess her up for life, but I also don’t want her to be in the dark.
@theinkedmommy,
Thank you. That was my main question. I’ve always held life equal to life, but I tend to forget that not everyone is the same way. I just genuinely wondered.
@jennatess, that’s the best way for her to make her own choice. good job mama! 👏🏻
when she’s in school that will lead to temptations and curiosity more so than anything.
but like you said she’ll be informed and then be able to make her own decision.
@jennatess, I don’t hold animals to human standards. I don’t consume gallons of milk a week, or even a day. But if I want some, I reach for cows.
@theinkedmommy, definitely. And those are my options like I said on my original post. I said we can disagree and discuss and argue as much as we like here in the comments. The main reason for my post was to see why so many mothers support an Industry that takes their children from them. 🤷🏼♀️
@ashleyrod, awesome question! My husband and I have decided that when she’s old enough to understand, we will be taken to a farm. To learn exactly where everything comes from. I won’t take her to the farm I saw (fucked me up for life.), but I will take her to a co-workers farm and let her watch them butcher.
She’s her own person and when she’s old enough then she will can decide. But, at home she’ll eat what I cook, unless she wants to cook herself. If she decides she’s okay with animal products, then she can choose to eat those products when we go out to eat, or at a friends house, ect.
My hope is: I feel like most children kind of follow their parents. Like, for example, growing up my mom never made ground beef. Meatloaf, ground beef and spaghetti, hamburgers... we never had them. My mom always said they were gross and I guess along the way I started to just believe I didn’t like it as well. I’m hoping she’ll just follow in our footsteps. But, she will be taught where the meat comes from, yes. I think more children should be aware of where their food comes from.
@jennatess, Opinions are opinions. 🤷🏼♀️ People aren’t wrong for being different. I’m not gonna argue.
@jennatess, when your daughters old enough to make her own choices/decisions
are you going to be okay with letting her drink what she wants and eat what she wants? i’m sure you have her living your lifestyle food/drink choices. which is fine. but what if that’s not what she wants when she’s 10 years old?
@theinkedmommy, yep, that blood and pus and sadness from having their babies ripped from their utter really makes the difference in the taste.
@jennatess, I don’t care for almond or coconut. They just don’t taste the same to me.
@mama_kat89, yep! exactly united states has so much crap in our food. that’s why we all have such bad health.
people out of this country live so much longer and are healthier bc less crap in their food.
@mama_kat89, srsly all about the money.
nothing else matters. as long as the money is coming in fast and in bundles.
@jennatess, I believe ALL scripture is God breathe. And I’m not sure what God thinks about the “farms” but you need to think back to before there were machines and stuff and how people actually killed animals. I don’t know much information on companies that torture their animals so I also have no input there except that it is sad and animals should not be tortured but I do believe animals are here for us to eat. Also, you need to be careful to talk about the Bible and things that people believe or not believe - the Old Testament is the Old Testament for a reason.
@ashleyrod, i’m not so sure. In 2014 3% of Americans identify as vegan… In 2017 14% of people identified as a vegan. I think that eventually… If this continues the way it’s continuing… The more people start to be aware that they can’t support such a horrible system. 🙏🏼
Again… This post and comments are straying away from my original question.
Not about meat, but about MILK.
We are all mom is here… How would you like it to be artificially impregnated, having your child taken away from you all so you keep producing milk?
yeah i know. i never said it was right. that should have already been implied without being implied.
of course it’s wrong. but it is a way of life. nothing people say or do will change how the animals get treated.
it’s cruel and unfair. but unfortunately it’s going to continue to happen
@ashleyrod, it’s not about the person, it’s about the suffering of the animals. You could say that for some religions the way of life is child marriages. That’s obviously not right, and totally wrong. Same with supporting factory farming. It was the way of life for a while, but that doesn’t mean it’s right.
@mama_kat89, I couldn’t stay vegan 🤷🏻♀️ I love ribs and a medium rare steak every so often. I also love making carnitas tacos.
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
@dpushknockx, but as a Christian do you follow every single part of the Bible? You Believe that every single thing is correct? Like that being gay is completely wrong? That wearing pearls and having your hair in braids is a sin? I feel like God is still speaking. There is nothing wrong with being straight, and there’s nothing wrong with being gay. I believe that God would not be happy with the way these factory farms are being ran. Raising your own animals and killing them yourselves is completely different than supporting a corporation that literally torture their animals before they are eventually killed. Ya know?
we drink milk in our house.
it’s just a way of life. this is happening regardless of people choosing to drink it or not.
every one is different.
no person is less or better for choosing to drink cows milk or not.
Here is my thought - I’m a Christian and my bible clearly states that humans are to rule the animals. They weren’t put on this earth to stand there and look pretty. I also come from a country background. We raised our own pigs & killed them and ate bacon.
As far as your question on milk - it’s disgusting, I don’t like the taste of it. The only time I have “milk” is almond milk in my smoothie or whole milk with cooking. My daughter drinks chocolate milk but she rather drink water most of the time.
There are reasons why people have milk and dairy intolerances. We’re NOT supposed to be drinking cows milk 😂
@jennatess, I look at food in a different light now that I’ve been able to witness how we do things at the farms and where we get our food from. Unfortunately , not everyone is capable to spend top dollar for quality food and that’s what industries like Tyson bank on.
Fortunately for me, I’m able to afford it.
@mama_kat89, and that’s exactly why I am. I’m no better than anyone or anything else. I can’t take someone’s or an animals life just for a second on the tongue. To each their own, and may everyone and everything have the option to live a long, happy life.
@mamabird228, you’re absolutely right. The way I look at it though, you can get everything the human body needs from supplements and vitamins.
@jennatess I think because most people don't think of it coming from a mother . In the old days you bought a cow and milked them yourself . Cows were expensive and most couldn't afford one so I believe that's where farms came in and the mass production of milk. There was a need for milk and it was met . Today there's more options of different milks so people are changing but some are use to what they're use to ♀🤷🏾
@queeniefitmama, and I respect the hell out of that! It’s just unfortunate that many people choose to buy the most inexpensive option, and those inexpensive options are usually brands like Tyson. A brand that is known for their horrible treatment.
@jennatess, since working where I do, I’ve been able to go to the farms where we get all of our meats. All of our veggies and fruits. All the animals are free range and fed all organic stuff.
The pigs are fed fruits and veggies we don’t use at the eatery...lol don’t get me started on the chickens. Our farmer doesn’t hang the chickens by their feet before they go to chicken heaven, They’re in a totally stress free environment.
This is more about MILK than MEAT. This post at least.
My main question is how can Mothers support an industry that is robbing another mother of their child?
My job had AMAZING vegan options you’d never know were vegan. We specialize in farm to table and dietary needs.
We do Keto, paleo, vegan, vegetarian options.
My body made a great transformation when I went vegan.
@mama_kat89, I think it’s more than lifestyle. When others are suffering then it becomes more. Ya know? Like, I just can’t do it as a mother. I know I’d hate to be artificially impregnated over and over again, only to lose my child the second they were born. All for my milk. 🤷🏼♀️I just can’t do it. My post was more to see the reasons WHY people STILL support that system
@jennatess yea I won't go to where they kill my food . I feel bad before I cook things I can only imagine how I'll feel if I saw them die . but the way I think of it is the food chain somebody got it somebody ♀🤷🏾
@irisdiaz33, have you talked to a professional dietitian? The only thing people are getting from meat is protein, but that protein only comes from the plants those animals eat. My best friend switched to vegan, and she was super light headed. Turned out all she needed was iron supplements. But everyone is different and only a doctor will be able to tell you exactly what your body is lacking from the diet.
TOFU DOESNT SCREAM!
No but seriously. I love tasty animals and have no problems slaughtering them myself (but prefer pre slaughtered in packages)
@jennatess, I make my own coconut milk, almond milk, and oat milk.
2 simple ingredients for all 3.
@squishymommy1, I assumed you were referring to our health in regards to “negative affects”
@squishymommy1, I’ve seen a documentary somewhere about this. I agree with you in this
@breederofboyz, I used to say the same stuff about 6 years ago. But then I went to a farm my friend was working at and I STILL have nightmares. Nearly 6 years later. There is no way I can support that after seeing it first hand.
My husband and I recently became vegans and we have been sick ever since.
@irisdiaz33, of almond milk? To the environment. It’s a massive MASSIVE water suck and millions of bees die every year
@queeniefitmama, true! The protein we get from meat is only coming from the animals diet. So, why not cut out the middle man and just eat the veggies!?! Seems silly to kill an animal for something you can get without any harm. But, then most people’s response to that question is: “but, bacon!”. 🤦🏼♀️
We drink raw milk. Or at least I do. I like the taste. We also drink almond milk which also has a significant negative affect of its own. My older kids don’t drink any milk or milk alternatives.
I don’t drink it. Neither do my kids.
We as human beings- do NOT need any type of animal protein to survive.
I drink it. I’m not eating my cereal with orange juice. 🤣
