Someone told me if I make more than my husband his child support can go up if his ex would to ask for household income?…

Someone told me if I make more than my husband his child support can go up if his ex would to ask for household income? Is that a thing how is that fair I bust myself in school busy hard to get a job just for my kids. And it would be taken in consideration for more child support and my kids to lose more money. I’m all for the parent to pay child support but is the system really that bad that they would take more so my income that would be for my kids would actually be something that matters and my kids would be losing more money?

@karensmommy, I know about the taxes and I’m ok with it. It’s stuff that will always be there but I just find it sad I work for my kids and he pays a lot already and his pay goes to his child support mostly Then bills I got a job cause my kids couldn’t survive off what they were left. Like I get medical but if she would to take more cause of my pay like it would be hard to even get our own place. Or even save to provide more for my kids. Like I get he’s the dad and he pays what he has to but my kids shouldn’t suffer and be left with a hundred each either.

No i don't think so, well not in Texas. I pay child support for my oldest, they never asked for my husband's income. Now if i would ever get behind yes if i file taxes together they will garnish them but that is about it.

@unicorn_mommy, Right I plan on working in the medical field and want to get my bsn for nursing right now I’m working a part time and it’s prettt messed up I bust my butt off for my kids to have a set life and cause I’ll make more than my husband they might take more. Like he pays what has to and. He bust his butt off for all his kids. But my kids get 10 times less than his other one and idc that’s why I’m working for them. But it isn’t fair if they take more if his kid gets a lot anyway

@pinkblossom99, that’s reassuring hopefully California is the same. I get the taxes they do that here.

Ya it sucks :/ in California they normally take 25% of the household income (if married)

It’s shitty too because kids don’t need more than $500 a month in support. Ya I understand it goes for bills, food and clothes but still

@nicolealison, right like my kids get a 100 each that’s on clothes diapers everything. We only make it cause my family helps a lot we live with my parents and my sisters and they would buy them clothes occasionally. But his ex gets over 500 In support. And when we had his son he looked worse than my kids. He smelled bad and was dressed in Raggy clothes. That is what would bother me more if she gets more she wouldn’t use it for him. She came dressed fresh with brand name stuff. And a new car. Which idc a car is something a person needs but my husband makes sure our kids looks presentable and everything on the little he’s left. Which is why I’m working now cause mine are still young and in diapers so they need stuff.

@km416, I would go talk to child support with him and open a court case to see a judge, the judge can put a set amount each month instead of doing 25%

km416

katarina

@nicolealison, yeah I might do that. I’m also going to push him to get at least visitation cause right now they have no court order set when she’s mad she won’t allow him around which is why he pays so much. Cause she made it seem like he never wants to come around

@km416, you can do all at once that way you only have to serve her once :P

That is custody/visitation and child support on the same day

@nicolealison, yeah cause I know if he got him more he would be taken care better than he is now. His oldest is mentally delayed from being born to early. But she didn’t want to work with him and she wouldn’t allow him to be around my husband especially after we got married before it wasn’t an issue. But a few months after we got married she tried to rekindle their old history and he shut it down so she ignored him after and just made it harder for him to be a parent

@km416 Yes they do include spouses income as it is household. However they have a worksheet that has all expenses acquired in the house. The only 2 they don't consider is cell phones and car payments. It's more of the necessities like rent, bills, medical, etc. I actually have one of the worksheets I can look up for you if you would like. Once you marry, you marry their financial obligations. Now when it comes to taxes if any back support is owed and you don't want them to take all taxes you can file an injured spouse. That's a whole different conversation though lol

@reddroses14, yeah message me it that would be perfect. So I know what to expect.

@km416 i really don't think your income is needed to determine how much he will pay. Call the office.

Not everyone pays 25 %of income. I pay 14% it depends on how many children you have the percent, plus insurance. Daycare not sure my daughter is 17 and left when she was 16. I pay about 500 a month, plus like 58 for insurance.

I’m so frustrated with the child support agency. When I was pregnant, I had badgercare. They decided that my boyfriend needed to pay back birthing expenses, even though they took his income into consideration when qualifying me for badgercare and the money he is using to pay that back is my money too because we have a shared account. It’s just money we can’t afford to lose, which is why we qualified for badgercare in the first place🙃

I have a question for all child support moms, my fiancé has an ex girlfriend who claims her baby is my fiancé’s, and I admit the child resembles my child. They want to get a dna test done and says they don’t want child support. They just want it for medical history. I don’t think my fiancé will do it honestly. The question is, the child has never seen or met my fiancé, doesn’t have his last name, another guy signed the birth certificate. My fiancé’s ex told me that since the guy signed the birth certificate that they can’t get child support from my fiancé. I don’t know if this is just an excuse or what. Cause with her it’s all about money honestly. I’m not saying that my fiancé shouldn’t help because if it’s his kid then he should. But the kid is 4 now I don’t understand why they’ve waited so long. Even in the beginning we told them to get a test done and the mother wouldn’t do it.
