At my job i left last year dec i got 6 weeks maternity pay from then which was 90% of my wages. Then from 7weeks till i go back in sep (39weeks i think) i get normal staturay goverment maternity pay whoch is like 82 something a month which is rubbish compared to wages

@clarelushx, yes I hardly saw my hubby with my first because he had to earn everything he could so we could live. It’s just the way it is I suppose 😔

@mhs_ It's a massive drop for me to only get 143 pound a week. I get 10.50 an hour at the moment. 143 would cover my bills but it would mean all 3 of us living of my bfs wage (food, gas, electricity, necessities) and he earns a standard wage x

If you get paid monthly you'll get it monthly. I got it every 2 weeks because that's how my work pay me normally x

You should get 90% of your normal wages for the first 6 weeks and then it either stays at 90% of your weekly earnings or £143 a week, whichever one works out cheaper for the remaining time you are on maternity, which is what the gov website says as well. For me I ended up getting the 143 a week when the first 6 weeks were up x

@clarelushx, it depends on your work I suppose. Not sure if everyone gets 90%. It’s worth looking into x

@rachaellw Thank you! We'll that's a lot better than I was thinking 😂 I thought they'd give me the bare minimum. I read somewhere that you get around £145 a week and that would only just cover bills and rent. But if I get the majority of my wage I'll be perfect xx

It’s normally 90% of your wages for the first 3 months then it goes statutory which is something like £500
