@sarasmilesatyou it just depends on the type of medicine they give you. Anesthesia is okay, even though they're going to tell you it's not. Get in touch with a lactation consultant and they will let you know for sure!

@ishabroadway21, the doctor told me that I will have to pump & dump for a couple of days after the surgery, but I should still be okay to breastfeed after. Is that true..?

@sarasmilesatyou, I did stop completely because my supply stopped (before the surgery).

Oh and also, they will tell you that you can't breastfeed, but you should call a lactation consultant and ask tell them the meds they've given you and you might still be able to. Take a pump with you or ask to borrow one of the hospitals. And pump before so your lo still has milk just in case you can't. But its super important to pump after surgery so your milk supply doesn't decrease

In my situation the pain from my gallbladder and taking the meds they gave me before surgery slowly stopped my supply until I lost it completely.. so I didn’t have to worry about BF at that point.( I had it taken out 2 months after delivery via c section) But I only took the pain meds for 2 days.

I’m so thankful mine got taken out. The pain was so bad it hurt to breathe and I couldn’t move to take care of my daughter. I explain the pain as worse than labor!!! I was in and out the same day with minimal pain, just keep up on the mess if you need them.

I had mine removed when my daughter was 5 weeks old. It was so terrible for me. I was still hurting from delivery and then had the surgery on top ugh. But it was so much better not hurting from the gallbladder attacks

After surgery isn't too bad just get up and move around because it will help the soreness and help you heal quicker. I can't say that having my gallbladder removed caused it but unfortunately I have ibs now and other severe stomach problems but everyone is different. Hopefully you don't have any stomach problems in the future.

@blakeslatinmama, oh okay. Well I’m glad you’re okay, I hope that I will be too. My husband said there was a study that some people gain more weight or lose more weight when they have it taken out as a side effect. Did you stay the same or is that a myth..?
