“Single” mother typically means .. single .. not in a relationship, i was a single mother for years, they’re dad still supported them while I was single .. dad in or out of the picture has nothing to do with the term single mom .. that’s how I understand it anyway.
@mommynmotion, I was proud to be called a single mom, doing it all on my own. Yep, I’ll take my credit 💪🏽. I’m confused with what your saying though, are u in a relationship but still called a single mom?
I just think this term has been changed through time to mean the woman is raising the kid completely alone no help at all from the dad or another significant other. Like none will hear that and think the dad helps. And I thought about this because I saw a commercial that had a “single dad” and I was confused single as in the mom doesn’t have anything to do with the kids or what? It’s just a confusing term

I'm going thru this right now 😏
We're together but not living together (we don't have a car atm either) and I'm still referred to as a single mother. Bugs me.

@boymom_, yeah I am tired of hearing girls say I’m a single mom work 2 jobs and blah blah blah
