So my daughter came home telling me another little girl at her school was calling her black and she said no she’s brown…

@sjo1, well she’s got offended because she sees her skin color as brown not black therefore she got offended... I never said she got offended because she thought she was actually being called black from her race which she doesn’t know black white Mexican and so forth... and yes they are learning the same things in class not out... at the end of the day it was dealt with properly

@michelleaaliyah so then if you're not teaching your daughter race how is she offended by it?

and I never said that just because you're not teaching your kid race that others aren't but they're both the same age learning the same things. Don't automatically think the opposite little girl was speaking of race is all I'm saying :)

Not sure honestly I wasn’t there but if my daughter felt offended by it of course I will address it and deal with..

I think that maybe the other little girl is just referring to her skin color not to her race. That little girls the same age as your daughter so I wouldn't automatically assume that she's talking about race because if your daughter doesn't know race how could you expect the opposite child to know the difference? they're still SO young. I know when my daughter was in preschool she said her friends would say she's black (still learning the difference between the colors black and brown) and then my daughter started calling everyone who had brown skin color black. At that age i don't really think they'd know the difference between race unless they're being taught that at home but maybe I could be wrong, I hope she said it innocently and she doesn't know about race yet tho

I mean, if the other little girl is as young as yours, I doubt she was saying it to be rude.

The only reason I say this is because I remember when my brother was around that age, he would say that my dad was black (my dad is part Native American and is very dark skinned) because to him, darker colors were black. But eventually he learned the difference between them.
